    The UConn fight song slaps

Always find myself randomly singing it on days like this.

    2:1

Historically I’ve considered that assist to turnover ratio to be pretty good for a college point guard. Elite ones can do it a little better, and certainly in the nba they can get up higher. But in college when you have heavy playmaking responsibilities, turnovers happen. Kemba, Bazz and...

    That was fun

Wanted to jump in earlier in the tournament when things looked promising, but as we always say around here, if you think it messes with the mojo, it does. Still remember being here after UNC and wondering if we’d ever make the Final Four. Then the Boneyard Classic when we savored 77-74. Now we...

    0-for-5*

Nobody put a body on anybody when the last shot went up *Karaban is exempt since he contested the shot and was out of the play.

    Attacking Donwhill

Even in the win streak, it’s stood out to me at times as a problem to be exploited. And today it was a big one. X guards and wings made a lot of shots going downhill - including a few and ones to take Karaban out of the game and render our third scorer a non-factor. I think we made one shot...

    4-0

That was the biggest “run” that Florida had in the entire game. Once in each half. When the lead hovered around 12 for what felt like forever in the second half, I had that “we‘re dooooooomed” feeling that we were screwing up by not putting the hammer down and letting them hang around. Just...

Cool Paige Stat (small sample size)

Since the Tennessee game, Paige is shooting 76 percent from the floor when UConn is trailing in the second half or OT (19-25). That includes 3-4 yesterday, 7-9 against SC, 8-11 against Arkansas, and 1-1 against Seton Hall.

    OT: Coastal Carolina Baseball Coach...

has as many national championships as Boeheim. Playful jabs aside, that was a heck of a story - they had to beat lots of P5 teams to win it all. You sometimes see small time schools (Akron, Santa Clara, St. John's) win men's soccer titles since the SEC and Big 12 don't even have it. But...

    Shout Out To Ricky Moore...

In 77-74 (trademark symbol), Duke had one guy who could make that sort of end to end rush and make a play with just about the exact same amount of time (Avery). Ricky locked him up and took him out of the play, which left Trajan Langdon to try to take it up the floor against Rash. Game over...

    To win $100 tonight

All you need to do is put down $66,000 on the UConn women to win -- and cross your fingers Texas doesn't become the Buster Douglas of WBB.

OT: Carver High Needs New Coach

RIP, Ken Howard Maybe Salami can give the eulogy. On edit: didn't remember that there was a character on the show named CJ Jackson, and we are currently recruiting a CJ Jackson. Don't know what that means, but I still had time to edit.

    Colorado's big mistake...

Was moving to the Pac 12 before playing us. We own the Pac 12 (just the UCLA '95 game is an exception). Arizona = Owned several times (including '11 regional final) Stanford = Owned several times (including '03 Round of 32) Cal = Owned a couple times (including second round in '90) Washington =...

    Haha ESPN

UConn escapes Cincy in 4-overtime thriller After Jalen Adams hit a miracle buzzer-beater to force a fourth OT, UConn holds on to boost its tourney hopes with a wild win over Pitt. (Posted and not linked because I'm sure they will fix it shortly)

    1) Super Bowl XLIX 2) A bunch of other things tied for second Congrats to that Butler kid for becoming a legend.

    OT: Pats-Colts

The thread will start eventually, anyway, and I don't have much rooting interest (other than maybe for Darius Butler), but I just wanted somewhere to ask how NFL refs can be a yard and a half off on a spot.

OT: UConn Women Up 65-9 In Second Half

At SMU. UConn built a 47-9 halftime lead and have slowly pulled away from there. The AAC is certainly not a good home for them.

Duke Getting Worked At NC State

Down 14 with 7 to go. Actually have found myself rooting for Duke (RPI reasons, plus annoyance at Abu being at NC State). Okafor has been solid if unspectacular, but the other Duke freshmen (Jones, Winslow) have simply been lousy. Abu has 6+5 but has been on bench as Pack pulled away...

Looks Like Dion Waiters To OKC

Pulled from the starting lineup today. Framework in place for a Three way trade with the Knicks. And from the first looks of it, Lamb isn't in the deal. In fact, no rotation players from OKC are. If nothing else happens, he's buried even more.

    Michigan Feeling A Little Better

Those pesky NJIT Highlanders up 7 on Villanova early in the 2H. La Tech up 17 on NC State early in the 2H as well. Louisville up 12 on CS Northridge. Stanford-Texas in a close one in an RPI neutral battle. We'll see what this thread jinxes. Edit: Whoops, wrong place. Didn't realize I was on...

    Some Things We Saw....

Purvis is obvious, but we also had Brimah with a 15 footer and a 18 footer, Samuel with two 18 footers, Calhoun with a 15 footer. Columbia probably had an excellent scouting report, but it ended up useless. Usually when a freshman is having "one of those nights", they're done. Hamilton playing...

OT: Turn on ESPNU if you can (MSU-Oakland)

And try to read Oakland's jersey numbers. It's like Where's Waldo, only really annoying for the people who need to read them (broadcasters, statisticians, etc.).

    ACC Struggles

Cuse beat La Tech by 2 and NC State lost to Wofford. AMA's entire statistical production in the one-point loss was 3 fouls. Can't believe how poor he's been. Louisville shockingly having a bit of a problem with UNCW - only up 4 with 7:38 left. UNCW's whole team is cramping up now, though.
  28. Gurleyman

AMA (and The Ones That Got Away)

Tuned in to NC State to see a little of Abu (never seen him play) and missed his cameo. He continues to be a complete non factor - zero points, one rebound, no second half minutes at Purdue. Averaging 2 points on 29 percent shooting so far this year. I imagine he'll show well against a cupcake...

    Some Late Game Review

Just critiquing some of our late game possessions, and (other than the last 4.4), the biggest agony was the stepback Cassell took with 1:30 left. Texas totally - and I mean totally - lost Boat on that play. Boat drove and found Cassell in the corner, Cassell (who had just missed a 3 on a ball...

Texas Bench Shoukd Have Had A Tech

Their bench ran out on the court and got in the passing lane where Cassell (and Boat lying on the ground) were. Some white walk on was 10 feet out on the court. Yeah - it's whining. But our only chance was a quick inbounds play and it's tough to do that against 12 players.

    Pitt-Chaminade

Pitt has a 32-7 rebounding edge (19-2 offensive) and leads by 5 with 3 mins to go in first half. No real reason to post about it, just other than the weird statistical anamoly.

    OT: Congats To Khaleen Pinkett

He plays for Savannah State and hit a jumper with 1:26 left in the first half against Louisville. It was their first basket after starting 0-23. Then they hit another and are down 41-7 at the half.

    PC-ND

Right now ND up 4 late - PC struggled when Dunn went to the bench, but has recovered after he came back in. Dunn has turned into a pretty good player - a lot of size at PG and had 14 dimes against a recent cupcake (and 9 against FSU). Not sure how he would have fit with all the guards we've...

UConn-Syracuse For National Title (Field Hockey)

Our women trying to repeat after beating Duke in the final last year. Not like it changes the math of 4>1, or that the B1G is going to take notice of the result, but count me in the camp of folks who would like to win that one. Just because.
