That's what's so dumb about NIL. John Tyson doesn't care about the name, image or likeness of Arkansas basketball players for his personal social media. The NCAA lost their battle and war. Just give up and let alums and the schools pay the players. They'll become subject to real contracts...
Why wouldn't he, right? Get some great feedback and a taste of what the process will be like. Hire an agent that understands the NCAA rules and see how it goes.
Agreed. It should be a foregone conclusion.
The funny thing about people saying that guys like Stephon (and Donovan) should come back is those are some of the same people that then say "too many kids today go to college and have useless majors. They'd be better off going to trade school and...
I don't think people are fully going understand that for a little while, but Gen Z (who isn't that young anymore) is transitioned.
Many of us Gen X'rs (me, I don't know your generation) and Millenials have cut the cord, but we haven't fully given up on the cable-like model. I still have...
I'd go with John Calipari. He has everything that Kentucky wants, and they'd be able to steal him from a conference rival. Word is that Arkansas is only paying him $7mm. Clearly Arkansas doesn't care about basketball if they would pay a legend like Calipari that little. Line up the donors...
And that's they type of coach they should be trying to hire. Even with SHU being Shaheen's alma mater, and him being a Jersey guy, nobody would blame him for moving to Kentucky for $6mm. Same with other head coaches that are at lesser major programs. Do your homework and find the right guy...
I will laugh like hell after this is over and I officially know Danny isn't going anywhere. Until then, it seems like bad mojo when a legitimate option comes off the board. "Danny, write down a number." Danny writes down $17mm for 10 years. "We can make that happen."
Looking at the psycho...
Coach Hurley did a pretty classy departure from URI. He seemed to be open with them, didn't poach all his players and coaches and kept the UConn leftovers. With the transfer portal becoming as/more important than NLI days, I would think Coach will want to end any speculation about Kentucky...
I actually wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. BUT, I don't think that's his fault. I think his team needs him in the game so badly that he has to save energy. He was as advertised on offense. Nice post moves, nice touch, decent hands and just a huge guy.
But I thought his defense...
I'm not a basketball coach, so take this is a casual fan. We're going to have to play Samson a bunch. I'd rather have an effective Donovan for less time than an exhausted one for more.
I was thinking maybe it could it help to have Samson front Edey? Samson is a pogo stick and Edey isn't...
I think there are degrees. I was rooting for Marquette and Creighton. I don't really care that much about them and don't know any grads. It helps the Big East and UConn if they do well and I get no pain from rooting them on. I cannot root for Providence because of two people I know that are...
Back at ya. I was doubling down on the Syracuse insult saying even Colgate would be too good. He’s gotta take more baby steps before getting to that level. So maybe Syracuse IS the next step before he then goes to a major job.
Not unless he has much more success than his alma mater. After all, Colgate has gone to 5 NCAA Tournaments since 2019 while Syracuse has only been to 2 during that time frame.
Pretty juvenile response. Just pointing out what the seedings mean. I didn't say the Big East shouldn't have gotten more teams in, just that the 6-0 record doesn't prove that. I even said we weren't given the chance to prove them wrong... and that was deliberate (in my opinion).
It's part...
1, 2, and 3 seeds making it to the Sweet 16 is chalk. The Big East wasn't given the chance to prove the Committee wrong.
The Big 12 (and the SEC) proves the Committee wrong. They both got tons of teams in and underperformed their seedings. Every Big 12 loss (and win) was to a lower seeded...
My daughter isn't looking at business or communications. Something in health or medical field as of now, but not sure. I found that there are some schools that really focus on the strength of one of their schools when selling the school. That involves talking about all the great things those...
Northwestern is the better team. FAU is just playing stupid.
Also, FAU guys, stop yelling "and 1!" every time you're fouled when your shot isn't even close to going in. That's not "and 1" unless you only want one shot instead of two.
Colgate looks like an awesome intramural team you played. They run you off the court with their size and skill and you think, "those guys could beat a legitimate college team." But you're wrong... they can't.
I went to Syracuse with my daughter who is good (not outstanding) student. We thought Syracuse was fine. Campus was fine. Town isn't great, but there's enough by the campus to be fine. She isn't going to be a communications major. We really looked at Syracuse as a state-like University...
Why does CBS seem to be pulling for BYU? How do you not pull for the underdog that hasn't been in the tournament for 47 years? I've only watched sporadically, but all I keep hearing is "here comes BYU... that's their game!" They were disappointed that a flagrant wasn't called on the Dukes...
Wow, strong words by the UNC Trustee.
I don't think UConn is getting into the Power 2+1. Each had their chances and passed. Heck, I still wouldn't be surprised if the ACC somehow passes and goes with all crap south schools. But, I do think chances are there could be a decent conference...
This is what NIL is supposed to be! Not just alums paying players. Is this actually on TV in Connecticut, or is it just on social media? Hasn't come up in any of my feeds.
Also, I haven't seen Cam interviewed much. I knew that he has a speech issue and I wasn't sure if he was...
Sorry, but you're missing what actually helps a league. Expansion with the teams you reference would not help, and could hurt. The Big East needs to discuss scheduling at a league level, and the teams need to do better outside the conference. That's it.
That, and the NCAA should penalize...
Brando was bad. REALLY bad. He messed up names so many times that it isn't worth mentioning. That being said, he didn't mess up because of lack of preparation or stupidity. I think he's just at that point where he screws up names. I have absolutely called my son by the dog's name and I'm...
And with the change in the rule interpretations this year, there's no way he'd get a charge call.
I think someone did make contact with him earlier this year. It didn't affect the play, but I was still shocked that didn't result in a T.
This won’t make you feel better, but it was definitely easier to get into Storrs from out of state. My kid had very similar credentials as yours. I think UConn uses the branch system to the detriment of Connecticut kids. The branches, especially Stamford, are a nice option, but it’s not the same...
Yes, we have seen that site (leak was getting reported Monday). We're hoping it's accurate because of what it said for my daughter. It made things a little less stressful over the past few days, but I won't believe the info until we see the Storrs acceptance.
And I'm in the same boat as you...
Bought some gbtc when it "dropped" to 23. Was my first digital asset purchase. Watched it drop and drop. Thought about dca but wimped out. It was just some play money. Put the assets in an account meant for my kids' impending college. Looking better nowadays.
Yeah, great for the school.... not great when this is the year your strong student (but not 4.0) kid is applying. Unless of course she gets in, then we want it to have been as difficult as possible! :)
Hoping for the best, but it's crazy out there.
