Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I don’t think the ACC will survive. I think there are at least 8 members that can find P2 homes and they will. These conferences are going to 20 plus. I don’t think UConn gets invited to to the Big 12 in a vacuum. I think the Big 12 may add many former BE members as it grows to 20 plus.

Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I think the Big 10 and SEC each going beyond 20 members would greatly improve the odds that UConn makes it into the Big 12, which certainly appears like it will be the 3rd major conference beyond the P2. UConn as an outlier in the Northeast with poorly perceived football was a tough sell, but...

Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I think Yormark actually wants Big 12 hoops to be a thing on the East Coast. If Syracuse, UConn, and Pitt along with Louisville become available, that may be a package he could sell his members on, even if they don't love the idea of UConn football being included. I don't think the ACC is...

Rothstein: OSU and WSU in discussions to join MW for basketball in 24/25

Exactly. It's very likely going to work too. Boise, SDSU, Colorado St., Tulane, Memphis, and USF are probably packing their bags now.

Burton: “We want to be a leader in NIL in Group of Five”

NCAA proposing new college athletics subdivision rooted in direct athlete compensation

This is the best news UConn could get short of a B1G invitation. It can opt in to what will be the new P5 and not have to worry about getting invited to a conference. It can play in the Big East forever, sign a GOR and just play independent football at this new upper level. A stable Big East...

The Big East needs to invite Gonzaga, Stanford, and Cal

With the just announced NIT changes cementing a P6 structure for basketball that includes both the BE and PAC, I think it may become even more obvious that the PAC and BE should merge, add Gonzaga and keep building from there.

The Big East needs to invite Gonzaga, Stanford, and Cal

The Big East should be talking to Gonzaga and the Pac 2. I believe that the Pac 2 will survive and reconstitute. It could merge with the Big East and make a Gonzaga addition more feasible. If the Pac 2 are serious about competing as a 2 team conference next year, they have plenty of room for...

Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

I think UConn needs to seriously consider a non-football offer to a P5 conference if one is extended. Our football would be independent for the opposite reason as Notre Dame, but we'd join them as the only other FBS independent in the P5 club.

    PAC dysfunction

I don't think we need to call the MWC but we definitely should be making contact with the WSU and OSU. UConn and UMass football could join immediately once it's established that they are the sole remaining voting members of the PAC.

    UMass 41 NMST 30

I agree. Definitely as long are both are independents and play almost every year. Make the game meaningful.

    Non-Key Tweets

With 5 members (Pac 4 + UConn), they'd only need 3 more to keep the football conference alive.

    Big East's Next Media Deal

Exactly. If Gonzaga is such a good idea, adding Stanford, Cal, WSU, and OSU makes it much more feasible.

    Big East's Next Media Deal

This is basically what I've been calling for too. This is the lineup I'd start with, but Temple, SMU, SDSU, and Boise St. are other options. California Connecticut Massachusetts Memphis Oregon St. Stanford South Florida Washington St. St. John’s Seton Hall Providence Villanova Georgetown...

Would a Big East Big 12 Merger Make Sense?

Legally, as the successor to the B12 it would have autonomy status. I don’t know what the mechanism for taking it away would be. With the old Big East the American was a BCS conference for the final year of its existence. Seems like autonomy status would be harder to remove since it’s an NCAA...

Would a Big East Big 12 Merger Make Sense?

It would definitely make sense. With the ACC, B1G, and PAC looking at an alliance it’s obvious that the B12 is being boxed out. There really are no additions that move the needle in football and bringing in a couple of decent basketball schools would be a drop in the bucket. Merging the B12 into...

    XL Center- Plan C, D or ???

I'm glad they are not reducing size. As others have stated, that is one of the biggest advantages for the XL compared to Gampel. Ideally, they could have done the full renovation that would have actually increased seating capacity to around 18,000. I think being back in the Big East combined...

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

Right. I think it just is reality. We joined FBS in 2000. That has always been the major factor holding us back. I mean, are there any programs in the P5 that were FCS until the 21st century? I certainly can't think of any.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

Personally, I find it hard to imagine we were ever really considered above Pitt given their much longer FBS football tradition.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

I think UConn had a shot but I don’t think we flubbed the opportunity. I think we just didn’t have the pedigree to beat out Cuse or Pitt and when it came to Louisville they had more of what the ACC football powers desired.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

The article is ridiculous. The suggestion that a school of UConn's caliber in a market the size of the state of CT can't sustain an FBS football program is just wrong. The Pasqualoni hire was terrible and Diaco didn't work out. We'll see if Randy can get us back to where we were when he left...

    LOL

I work at Travelers. The promo code for Travelers has been Travelers for years. They let us know when it’s active, tickets aren’t usually free, and you never have to prove you work there to use it. I understand why people who bought tickets and season tickets are mad but obviously having a...

Great idea but I think the AAC's current contract would prevent Fox from doing that this season. It would still be great if they did something like that for UConn's first season back as an FBS independent.
  29. HartbeatHusky

Other than spite, why wouldn't the AAC keep UConn football on a reduced payout?

It's going to be hilarious if we actually have a halfway decent football season and pull some upsets on our way out of the AAC.

A commitment from Mashantucket Pequot & Mohegan tribes could help XL Center funding, legislator say.

I've been preaching this for years. Why put it in East Windsor to compete with downtown? Makes no sense. It needs to be built downtown and in conjunction with the XL Center renovation. There is plenty of room for it in the Allyn St./Ann St. area. One casino is not going to turn Hartford into...

Hartford to Host NCAA Tournament in 2019

I think Frank gets that. It's the BC and Wake fans that are arguing that their schools value is on par with UConn's in a vacuum that is silly.
