Already known but still funny…and sad

I’m sitting here on the Cape watching WCVB ch 5 out of Boston. They are talking about the Red Sox, Bruins and the Patriots, and I think I heard a comment on the Revolution. Did BC play yesterday? Oh yeah, quick google search shows they played at home and lost against North Carolina State. They...

    Given football is so important…

I know much if this has been discussed already, but … When will there be power conferences built on football only? Why do power conferences today include or care about any of the other sports? Seems what might fit UConn would be a football only conference of 8 or so schools. Maybe a few that...

If you could do it over again …

… where would you have gone? Sports was certainly not a reason I picked UConn. Although I did become a big fan of soccer, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and football. I grew up maybe 25 minutes from campus, but didn’t follow any UConn sports previously. I became much more interested in...

    Cheating in golf

Just, curious, how widespread is cheating in golf? I recently joined a high end private club. I noticed people taking lies in the woods and rough, and sometimes on the fairways. I always played that once on the tee, you don’t touch the ball again until on the green. I also post all my scores. I’m...

    Part time retirement question

Key employees are very near retirement. One leaving very soon. Large high tech software company. One very senior key person wants to retire, but willing to stay on part time for a year or so. Should that person work for their current “hourly” rate, or negotiate hours and salary at a higher rate?

Is Umass really recruiting better than UConn?

    Seems so according to 247sports.com.

Couldn’t defend the post route ?

Lots of things went wrong where UConn was overmatched, but wasn’t that most obvious on a post route that UConn couldn’t defend? What can you do, looked like they could have run just that play all night.

    Martha’s Vineyard boating

I’m new to boating, currently have a 24 foot boat in Falmouth on Cape Cod. Any ideas on where good fishing is, or good places to drop anchor welcome. We’d like to go to Martha’s vineyard. Apparently you can use a mooring at Oak Bluffs, but up to 4 boats may use the same mooring. Anyone have any...

If we went undefeated, would the fans come back?

There was a lot of excitement on the move from 1aa. The stadium was full for a lot of games back then. A lot of that was based on who we were playing. Even if we were now undefeated in this conference, would most fans come back? I watch a lot of AAC games on tv. There are empty stadiums all...

    When will recruiting improve?

I stopped following recruiting years ago because the results were too disappointing. I just looked at 2018 and see we rank 11th in the conference so far. Can we really expect to move up without better recruiting? I know the number of stars doesn’t always tell the whole story, but it’s not...

So, how crazy a fan are you?

I recall a fan back in the 70's that moved to Colorado who would call back home to have his sister put the phone next to a radio so he could listen to Uconn football games. Maybe a real fan would fly back to see the games...

Not all Michigan fans will be happy ...

There are seats in the temporary section where the scoreboard blocks part of the field.

Some old info on stadium expansion

This is from 2001: Hi, I've heard the seating will start at anywhere from 40,000 to 42,000. And, that future expansion up to 50,000 is possible. Does this mean it will be impossible to expand further if demand is there? -Rich ANSWER: The stadium is designed to have 50,000 seats with the...

Uconn and Cinn think they will be in the ACC?

Source: Boise St. discussing staying in MWC Where are the votes needed going to come from the next time?

Would the Big 10 go for this?

The state agrees to expand to 65k, and 25k seats are reserved for Big 10 fans. Any not used get returned to Uconn. Big 10 fans would purchase tickets thru the Big 10.

When are all the new teams officially in and can vote?

And, would the majority vote to increase the exit fee at that time, as they will have no other options (and really want things to work)?

To me, evidence invite to the Big 10 not likely ...

Not a good sign that Michigan doesn't want to play in East Hartford.

    rent can expand to?

55k? 65k? ... big enough for big 10? Not all big 10 stadiums are 100k+

Uconn, WV, Rutgers to big 12?

I think the Big 10 is a definite no for Uconn, and the ACC in unlikely. Why not push for the Big 12? It must be on the table.
