Jo I appreciate Mora with his national profile agreeing to come here and try reversing the fortunes of the program. And I also recognized the need to get people talking about the program when he first got here. He has been a dynamic presence here. I guess I'm getting tired of getting any...
New; GM, S&C, DC, OC, Passing Coord, Senior D Analyst...New K and P for special teams Literally everything is in transition.
Lots of work to do. Build new working relationships. He will say something when he has something to say.
Heading into spring I think there is just almost an overwhelming amount of things to get done and possibly change with new subordinates, players etc. See what comes out of spring. Could be just spending his time puking in the wastebasket instead of posting.
Free is throwing numbers out there cavalierly . He will "take" 250 and 35. 250-260 yds a game gets you in the top 40-50 of 133 and 35 tds is a big number, top ten number today . 3000 yds and 35 tds are going to get interest which we may not be able to afford in todays environment. Thats all.
Orlovsky was pushing 300yds a game his last two years. Do you think we would be able to keep someone who passes for 300 yds and 33 tds for the following year today? Any development unfortunately will be rewarded by going to some other program.
The company I worked for in RI had a number of fellow employees in from the Midwest for a tech transfer situation. A few appreciated what you wrote. They were shocked at the level we were encouraged to speak our minds. Things were said that would be considered insubordinate back home. Consensus...
Peeked into the Illini and Purdue boards. Denigrating the UConn coach, the fans (by third party accounts}, the school, east coast people... I thought mid-westerners were nice but have shown to be as small as anyone else. Fans.
A ball to the head led her to missing this season. She has been through a lot. Not sure just how much folks realize in high school alone; acl, hip labrum, shoulder labrum, concussions.
Orlovsky averaged 233yds/game and 22tds/yr. , that's projecting his first year out to 12 games. The unfortunate reality is if the offense produces what Free would take, the coordinator and the qb will both be gone the following year or the next.
Even though small, a metal ring could potentially exacerbate any elbow or hand to the face. Can see it ripping up some skin then scarring of the face. Its a high value area as opposed to an arm.
Sammis seems to have a history of improving OL play resulting in better run production and protecting the QB. Unknowns are his overall O philosophy or his ability to successfully express that philosophy. Hope his history translates. I do think time is running out for even longtime supporters though.
Rule was a defensive coach before he became QB coach at Temple for one year then OC. Willson had been an OC before he came to UConn and had Orlovsky to work with.
Guessing also that #1 recruits nowadays will have their own nils as they come in. Its going to be a way to circumvent the scholly caps . Need to hire financial planners.
Tix already purchased so wait and see. March is a big month for NFL, hoping Mora was working to secure a job for Charlton and Sammis was the preferred way to go with help of a QB/Pass Coordinator combo and not because it went down too late.
This doesn't sound good. IIRC the staff was maxed out last year as far as body count. Lost Marianelli and Charlton. Gained a DC and now this. So that means the new OC comes from the current staff?
