    The transfer portal opens today

I read several times over the years that teams love kids of professional athletes because they know the commitment first hand in being successful. Look no further than Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry and now Jalen Brunson. I can’t imagine three guys working harder at their craft.

Sanogo Gets His First NBA Double Double

This is a great point. In fact, how many undrafted players in NBA history have had a 20 and 20? I think Ben Wallace is one but if there were 5 total I’d be shocked.

    What is the formula?

This is so old school but the formula looks to me like the Red Holtzman Knicks with multiple positional defenders, relentless rebounding and excellent passers at every position. Clingan and Willis Reed are not necessarily similar in terms of protecting the paint but I'm not sure we will have a...

Devin Carter is the Big East Player of the Year

I'm so often conflicted on these. Carter is great and he's one of the few players in the Big East who I think would start for us but I too lean towards the most valuable player on the best team as opposed to the player who made winning plays but put up awesome numbers often in vain.

Adama gets his national championship ring

We have no idea what scheduling challenges took place. I don't think we need speculate on it.

Upset Alert - Down Goes Perdue (merged)

It’s rare when teams ranked number 1 live up to the hype. Hurley made a similar comment to this but our ranking really reminds me of various boxers who once they won the belt suddenly became better because their pride and will to win reached levels to match their skill.

Did Andre guard Kolek last season?

I’d put Cam on Kolek. Cam tends to get beat by athletic guards who get downhill and Koleks strength is his guile not his athleticism. Let Kolek get his but shut down the rest.

The Athletic - Intensity, alter egos and ‘Benjamin Button’: Dan Hurley’s quest to become king of two in a row at UConn

I’m not saying Bobby is on the same level as Danny but compared to other ASU coaches, he is a home run.

A little Film Room content ... on Samson, Cling Kong and ball-screen defense

I’m going to praise Top Dogs and Field of 68 as well. I listen every day and find it the top source of CBB in the country.

    Offensive Rating - Cam Spencer

After last year I thought that Hawkins, Jackson and Adama were all so unique in their skill sets that they couldn’t be replaced. Instead, we’d need different skills from different types of players similar to Johnson strengths versus Adana’s. I was for the most part incorrect. Cam has mostly...

    Team at Connecticut Children's Hospital

I see that video and it reinforces my belief in how crucial Diarra is to the squad. It is impossible without access to the locker room to know who the leaders are but from what I see, Hassan personifies the joy of being part of the team and sacrificing for the greater good.

    Clingan impact on defense demonstrated!

I actually have no problem starting Johnson the remainder of the year. Much like Tyler Olander years ago, let Johnson start the game and allow the refs to set the tempo of the calls before bringing in Donovan. This accomplished a few things, 1) it avoids foul trouble for DC, 2) it allows...

    Updated Cumulative Stats

You are correct that the post needs to improve at the line but simultaneously they are putting so much pressure at the rim that they are drawing the fouls that put us in the bonus and allows us to have more made FTs than the opponents have shot in total.

    Diarra Shout Out

I sensed last year he was one of the leaders of the team but not being a significant contributor diminished his positive attributes. This season his contributions have added to his leadership qualities which gives the team another significant voice especially when some other leaders tend to be...

    Clingan Game Time Decision

He’s out there warming up and it might just be his outfit but he looks slimmed down from the last I saw him in Newark.

Cam Spencer and Thoughts on the Portal

Re: Timberlake specifically and how he would have fit in. Danny hasn't really missed yet in the transfer portal with RJ, Tyrese, last year's crew and Cam. I think Danny does a better job of building self confidence than Self does and Timberlake would have been a far more significant piece here...

Samson Johnson - The Value of Waiting Your Turn. Will the Fab Five Follow the Model? What Say You?

One of the most exciting thing about being a fan during these Hurley years is watching the jumps players make season to season. With that said, I can't wait to see who makes the leap next year and hopefully that includes all the players who aren't guaranteed an NBA draft selection.

Best NBA Player to Come Out of the Big East

I really think AI in the modern game is being underestimated. Two things about him... 1) he could defintely shoot but because the game was much more physical and midrange heavy his numbers (and body) took a toll. If he played today, he'd shoot more threes without a doubt and I'm confident his...

Big East 23/24 final regular season standings projections

I too believe more in Providences roster than Xavier’s but I also saw at least two or three seasons in the Pac12 where you thought Archie’s teams were down and they would fight and scrap to the top of the conference. I don’t quite give Miller the benefit of the doubt like Self, Painter or...

    CBSSports.com Preseason All American Teams

I said something similar before but if DC is indeed 3rd team AA and not the sixth best big man, we are a #1 seed.

    Cooper Flagg Thread V3

I wonder if they are selling him on the Andre (2nd facilitator) role instead of being a “big”. Of the clips I saw he was really dynamic with the ball in his hands and I do think he can guard anyone but potentially small guards. That role would also solidify his incredible draft stock without...

    OT: Holiday to Celtics

I’m not a Celtic fan but think this a great trade. Holiday is basically a deluxe Marcus Smart.

    Deon Sanders

In the same press conference, he gave the Danny Hurley “you better get us now” declaration. Time will tell but USC at home next week is a better barometer than Oregon on the road.

Former NBA greats who are forgotten.

Chambers was an amazing talent but I’m not sure he was ever great because he didn’t make enough winning plays. He should have been a first or second team player every year but there was no question he wasn’t really that type of player even back then. An All-Star definitely but not great. I...

    Deon Sanders

I’m a CU grad, football season ticket holder and obviously an enormous Husky fan too. I just got from Boulder and the Prime effect is very real. Besides being 2-0 against decent teams it’s hard to understate the economic impact. The game was a rare sellout (at least in the last ten years)...

Article: Clingan Set for Breakout Season

If If Clingan puts up those numbers on this team, he is an All-American and we are a #1 seed. We have at least four other quality options and if he if he has that type of production, he will be toying with the opponents.

What is likelihood of another championship during Hurley’s new 6 year contract?

In a vacuum I’d say Hurley and Self have the best odds to win at least one in the next six years but conference realignment, and NIL among others really make predictions in this landscape impossible.

Top Men's Basketball Programs All Time

So much of that had to do with recruiting 5 star talent year in and year out. We rarely have had players waiting in the wings who were undeniably the best high school players in their classes so some of the drop offs in production was simply talent not having developed to their potential in a...

Top Men's Basketball Programs All Time

I find this thinking ironic as UCLA has been pretty impressive since Wooden. In total they have been to Final Fours with 5 different coaches (Wooden, Harrick, Brown, Howland and Cronin) and won championships under 2 (Wooden, Harrick). Kentucky is the only other school to have gone to Final...

hawkins was cam whitmore’s toughest guard

I think I'm paraphrasing Sam Vencenie but he basically said that players who fit Whitmore's physical profile always make an impact. When he said it, I thought that can't be true but then I started thinking of all the busts and they are almost always tall skinny guys. It also made think of...

    2026 Recruiting: AJ Dybantsa

It's funny because I don't understand all of the Filipowski hype. He's a tremendous college player but who is his NBA comp? Physically or athletically is there a huge athletic difference between him and Adama or Drew Timme? Re: Donovan... Walker Kessler is his comp and Kessler has proven to...

2024 Recruiting: John Bol has decommitted from Florida (7/31/23 has committed to Ole Miss)

I In the case of almost every one and done... it is not necessarily the player... it is the role and fit on any given team. I have faith in our staff that they can recognize whether a player with one and done potential is a good fit and if they don't find one (or two or three), they move on...
