No. A defensive player could never run through another player to get to the ball. I will agree that the consistency of officiating has deteriorated over the last dozen years or so.

On the flipside, why did Scott Turner call for a timing pass pattern, when Antonio Gibson was gaining over 5 yards a clip?

That's pass interference in the NFL everyday of the week. I think a similar play happened earlier in the game and wasn't called. On the other hand, the officiating gets worse and worse every year. The play where McKissic tripped over the hash mark, untouched and gaining the first down was...

    2021 New England Patriots Thread

I'm not betting on a team whose quarterback has nearly zero desire to play for that team to go to the Super Bowl. The Patriots were on their way to a game winning field goal attempt, if not touchdown, prior to the fumble on Miami's 9 yard line. The Patriots were in position to win despite four...

If Gettleman's aim was to increase merchandising, Barkley was the correct pick. If it was to improve the product on the field, Gettleman should have been fired that Thursday, 5:00pm. Before the draft. I said years ago (though I'm sure I heard it from somewhere else. I'm not that clever.) that a...

That dropped TD would have put the Giants up 10, with Heineke seemingly playing scared in the second half. That would have sealed it. Heinicke pulled that second TD pass out of his rear. Frankly, I went upstairs to bed after the interception ( was that play call). Of course I checked the WFT...

I stand corrected on the entertainment value of that game. On the other hand, the Giants had it won and were begging Washington to take it all game, arms outstretched. The only reason the Giants lost is because WFT finally and reluctantly accepted the win. What happened to WFT's defense?

They play tonight. I think Heinicke gives Washington a better chance to win. He is more mobile than Fitzpatrick and has more confidence in his receivers.

On the other hand. Jones is 4-0 vs. Washington, who is favored by just a 0.5 point more than the homefield advantage.

State of the AAC & Mike Aresco

There isn't. Kansas in the future Big XXII is akin to UConn in the AAC, without the championship success (including non-revenue sports). The Big XXII's money faucet slows to a drip after OU and UT take off. It would be a hoot if they took the UConn track (Big East/Independent), but they have a...

What Would Be Your Definition of Success in Fresno?

Fans do not have a direct or active roll on the team. Particularly for road games. Of course this should be the program's mindset. They should never be looking for a moral victory. Fans are fanatical, but can afford to be more realistic. Fans can pick and choose the bright spots that justify...

    Drummond saves his kid

For people with pools, this is more common than one would think. First off all, toddlers have no business being within 10 feet of a pool edge without a floating device and outside a guardians' arms. Even with a floatation device, they can hardly keep themselves upright. This happened to my son...

OT: Field Of Dreams Game Tonight

As someone who has been to Dyersville and visited the farmhouse, fielded grounders and throws at 1st base, shagged flies, and took batting practice (My buddy went yard in 1999) at the Field of Dreams, a second field built into the corn is borderline offensive. ;) They basically built an...

AD David Benedict: UConn 'in a very good situation' as college conference realignment swirls

Not exactly to what I am referring. Put the top 4 teams of each P5 league in the same conference and within a graduation cycle (two at the most; i.e. 8 years), I think the 'Bamas, LSUs, Clemsons, and tOSUs of the football world will be 9-3 at best, but not very often and not nearly enough for...

AD David Benedict: UConn 'in a very good situation' as college conference realignment swirls

I think travel encompasses more than just distance. Ease of getting to the destination, for one. Cost/benefit for another. Fresno might be further, but it is also in a comparative football hotbed to Las Cruces. That said, I agree with take advantage of every possibility to fill the schedule.

Broadcast value is not estimated in this case. ESPN owns the rights for both the ACC and soon, the SEC. Why would they elect to pay more for two schools in the SEC, when they are getting them for a comparable bargain in the ACC?

That is true from a program standpoint, but realignment begins and ends with who pays for the product. What reason would ESPN have to pay more for Clemson and FSU?

If true, there are going to be a lot of SEC teams vying for a spot in the Birmingham Bowl with 7-5 records. ACC programs get a lot of money and being a big fish in a medium pond offers a better route to the playoff than a below average sized fish in a lake. If you want the competition, play OoC...

AD David Benedict: UConn 'in a very good situation' as college conference realignment swirls

Who do the 20-40 super teams play? Each other? The 'Bamas, LSUs, and tOSUs rely on the Vanderbilts and Illinois's to pad their records. 20-40 team super league introduces too much parity at the top. Coaches use program domination for recruiting.
