Who says this is true? We have to believe Geno doesn't nor have I ever heard this as a mandatory point.

    Mir, redux

I like Mir a lot but I don't see the Kalana Greene comparison. I think more Gabby-like. I don't think Mir has the -guard-like open-court play that Greene had. For example, I missed most of today, but has there been one time this year that Mir has shown that when she catches a pass beyond 25+...

    St John's Postgame Thread

The injury to Nika is devastating as to how this team wants to play. Hopefully it's not too bad. But many of us have been super-excited regarding the 3 frosh. You take away what any of the 3 are-- then it hurts this team a lot.

Fly off the handle? You can express your opinion about Geno and I feel you are so wrong that I can't express mine as to imo you are way wrong? C'mon. I'm done with this.

    Pressure to perform

Okay - Point 1 -- regarding DT- you don't think a freshman should be blamed to even a minor degree for not having a good game? I hope you aren't suggesting all freshmen are blameless? Otherwise what's wrong acknowledging DT was a frosh and she struggled but recognize leading up that game she had...

    Pressure to perform

Huh? Regarding DT - Are you replying to the right post? My post regarding DT was sent to aluminny69. You didn't even mention DT. And the post you are replying to (mine) didn't mention DT either. I challenged aluminny's numbers he used. I felt he didn't give the whole story. What does that...

"The Ludicrous, Unprecedented Greatness of Paige Bueckers"

SO for example if Lebron James was coming out of High School and teamed up with the number 3 recruit and number 10 recruit let's say and the prior year UCONN got the number 1 recruit with 2 other top players - and they had elite recruits also on the team in which there was sr leadership -- you...

    Pressure to perform

So in the S16 and E8 games - she was All-Region Most Outsanding Player averaging 20.5 ppg shooting - shot 51.9% from 2, shot 52.9% from 3, averaged 7 rebounds, and had an EFG% of 68.52% and a TS% of 71.13 % -yet you are knocking her overall performance before the Final Four? Also you are...

    Pressure to perform

Great post. UCONN is the number 1 team in the country. UCONN is the number 1 team in the country. Instead we're really going to bring up 2 prior years as to when UCONN was undefeated and got beat by buzzer beaters in a tournament designed to make it especially hard for the best team to win?- And...

Not at all were you argumentative. We argued respectively with one another. As I said you're an excellent poster and fan. We just have a completely different pov on how we see the game and players. Anyhow - just as you imply here - you aren't suggesting everything you stated is about our...

Please don't take offense to this but this is why we've had so many arguments in the past and why I've said during those arguments that you and I have polar opposite opinions. Not personal. I just don't agree with how you view the game though you are a great fan and show respect toward anyone...

    Marquette Postgame Thread

I doubt this very much. Paige and Azzi are super shooters. CWill is a terrific driver. She'll be able to play off of them. And her minutes will be down because UCONN is going to blow teams out much earlier and won't need to push their starters as much in order to change how they play.

    Marquette Postgame Thread

huh??????????????? Anytime a top team ends up getting upset you can point to a phase of the game that they didn't play as well. For example, do you really think UCONN is going to crush SC, Baylor, Stanford or NC State on the glass in any manner like they did vs Marquette as well? Thus-...

For Uconn to go deep into NCAA tournament...

Okay - I'm bias I prefer guard play. But ofc winning it all/ winning every game - it's fun to guess what could be done. But you had said something to the effect that UCONN was a-little-too-guard-centric for your tastes. But you agree they had little-to-no other options the past 2 years, right...

For Uconn to go deep into NCAA tournament...

In regards to the bold/ Geno's system-- can you explain how you would have changed the attack from the 19-20 team of last year from less guard centric? In regards to 18-19 -- can you explain how would you have done things differently? In that UCONN had 1 post player in Collier, and even...

ESPN's latest WNBA Mock Draft has Evina going #12

I think everything comes down to Evina's injury and if a team thinks she can be healthy enough. She has played 4 positions on the number 1 ranked team. She has two solid offensive fundamental skills. She's just not a 3pt shooter. If her knee can hold up - she may not have to be.

Has a Late Season Transformation Already Happened?

Very important and underrated part of the game. Our 3 "bigs" can't shoot them. You can't build much of an inside attack offensive plan around them against good quality teams because of it.
  21. hoophuskee

    Paige as NPOY

I agree with you. What she did vs SC wasn't at another level? Her efficiency vs Arkansas in which her TS% wasn't at another level? Her entire season --her efficiency for a guard isn't at another level? And her "one game" which seems to be downplayed by some is much bigger than any "other...

    Can't Sleep on Creighton

A benchmark? What's the point of a 20 game benchmark when it comes to UCONN? You know UCONN has been to many consecutive final fours? What does 19 or 20 wins have to with affecting UCONN? You could call out 25 game winning teams sand it still wouldn't mean anything, right? And you replied to...

    Can't Sleep on Creighton

So last year they were 19-10 and yet you are making a big deal that they didn't win 20? That's what you want to get with a back-and-forth disagreement on with Nan - that Creighton only won 19 instead of 20 games? What next if they go 20-10 then we can move the bar and say they never won 21? I...

Why do you doubt it? :) If that last minute or two isn't important then why not have them goof-off in those last couple of minutes? Because if it's not instrumental in Nika's development then why would it be instrumental in anyone else's development too? You're a fan and can declare a game...

Mir? Any idea why so little playing time?

Because Mir scores nearly all her baskets inside. When you compared Nika to Mir - were you thinking Mir is scoring mostly outside of 5-6 feet? The problem for Mir is that she is small for a low post player and most of her baskets come form the inside 5-6 feet. She's a small player who plays...

Mir? Any idea why so little playing time?

Yes. But that challenge you reference also includes his superstars. And history has shown he gives his superstars big minutes. There's a reason. Teams need to develop a certain cohesiveness and that usually starts with your superstars. So in order to accomplish the goal to win championships he...

Mir? Any idea why so little playing time?

We heard the same thing at the end of last year/ the start of this year. Next year they could become among the best ever. As a result more minutes could be spread around due to blowouts but if Azzi is like Paige next year -- those two aren't coming out in big games other than a minute or 2...

Mir? Any idea why so little playing time?

You would be wrong. If his team doesn't win enough (lose many. many of his games. - Never happen though) - eventually he gets fired/retires and the school loses revenue because you're not ever going to achieve enough winning unless you play your best players. How many games do you need links...

If we say that Dean Smith is to be judged beyond titles then so must Auriemma. You certainly hold Geno in high esteem –but I wonder about others. There certainly have been threads (and posts) here created pointing out that it’s “title or bust.” That’s the context I was replying to with Griff (in...

Mir? Any idea why so little playing time?

I think there is such a thing as over-coaching. and over-analyzing things that aren't so difficult. Further- I don't know what Geno said to Mir (I have no way of knowing). But imo it had little do with promising her time. And imo without a doubt with him it's about getting his team best...
