This reminds me of the great deals Goldman Sachs used to give nations in financial distress. It would swap their debt for immediate payouts, while taking a future cut in the form of a balloon payment. The countries ended up much worse for it, but they were very rich for about a year or two.
Honestly, it's not recent at all for the B1G and SEC. B1G teams have $100m+ in revenue for a decade or more. For 2 decades already, they've been making 3x or 4x the amount of revenue that UConn has.
NIL is a different beast altogether, it's new. So we'll see.
The B1G and SEC are good early season conferences that rarely win championships.
Since 2000-2001, these 2 conferences have won a combined 3 championships.
The ACC has won 8, the Big East has won 9, the B12 has won 3.
They came in and lost their defensive assignments and then turned the ball over. It wasn't a good look. Bad passes, etc.
Only Stewart looked decent out there, made a 3, a good pass, but he looked like he lost his mind when it came to defending. Didn't know who he had and was confused.
Mahaney...

TV is causing a lot of the bad reffing. In an effort to make better product for TV, they are changing points of emphasis. They want more scoring.
It unbalances the refs and makes them focus on things which leads to overemphasis.
Two hand push offs by the D on ballhandlers around the perimeter...
One would think that huge savings could be made with home care... It can't be round the clock, obviously. I'd assume hiring a private home care worker might be cheaper but risky as well since there is no oversight. We did this for a relative, and let me just say, "things went missing..."
Or, you shouldn't be expected to have an NCAA championship capable team every year.
People might step back and think about who Adama Sanogo, Andre Jackson, etc. were 3 years ago.
Players need seasoning. Sanogo and Jackson took awhile to become their Junior year selves.
People were calling...
I never understand this argument. We played Colorado and lost. Should we have scheduled Colorado earlier? I would understand the point if we played, say, UNC and lost a close game.
But we just lost to Colorado. We played Memphis last night, and that didn't help us against Colorado.
I'm sorry, but Memphis only has 1/4 as many free throws as last night.
10 to 40.
Im perfectly willing to accept that the UConn defense is not very good. But this is a huge anomaly.
They were calling fouls last night that weren't fouls at all!
There are players who will learn and get better.
There are others.
Also, I've seen Solo Ball drive plenty of times. It usually doesn't end well. This isn't the kids forte.
He's a mix of Rodney Purvis (driving) and Rashad Anderson (shooting), but he looks like he may eventually be a better...
I'm ready to watch this lineup shrink to 8 players.
Samson gets very few minutes, and Ross gets basically none.
Starters: Reed, Karaban, McNeeley, Ball and Nowell.
Main bench players: Diarra and Stewart.
Spot minutes: Samson and Mahaney (Calcaterra minutes).
Ross and Singare for garbage...
Because the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
I'm just gonna shack, shack, shack, shack, shack
A bit of different meaning.
I don't get the math here.
This Memphis game WAS our first competitive game. It doesn't really matter that they played 3 cupcakes or four. They treat them like exhibitions anyway.
This argument makes no sense to me.
If they scheduled one or two less cupcakes, we'd be saying this is an early...
I'm worried about him. Not UConn. Hurley has been very open about everything to do with the referees and his relationship in the past. If you think this is OK, you're not listening to...
... Hurley!
I think it was the early fouls that set him off.
It was not as you described. Players had arms up, not bodying the driver at all, feet moving.
The driver initiated contact and got the foul call. This is why we had so many starters on the bench so early in the game.
On the other side of the...
There should be a 5th choice to the poll. How worried are we that Hurley burns the candles at both ends like this?
I know he is type A and this is him, but he's been fairly open to the media about his rage at the refs in the past.
Only someone who really believes they are going to win 3 in a...
