Pepe’s in Danbury is hit or miss. I’ve had pizza’s there that were meh and other times pizzas that were just like New Haven. It depends on who the bakers are.

Not a CT pizzeria, but my brother & SIL were in for the weekend from Danbury. Took them for their first Detroit-style pizza at Iron Born on Sat. When they first saw it, they were afraid it was gonna be a belly bomb like deep dish, but were amazed how light and airy the things are. They scarfed...

I’ll take Modern 1st, then Zuppardis, then Sally’s, then Pepe’s. If it’s a clam pie or sausage pie, I’d take Zupp’s first. Pepe’s in Danbury is ok, but very inconsistent, have had great pies there some nights and other times it was awful. There’s something about the mushrooms that Zuppardis puts...

My daughter goes to Fairfield U. and they have a Zuppardi's truck on campus this year! I told her she doesn't know how lucky they are!

Zupp's is my jam so much so that I had the Zupp's Pizza truck at my wedding 2 months ago, 2 hours after the catered dinner finished and before desert. Who needs cake? Best Clam Pie, Best Sausage Pie, those are the only two Pizzas I need in my life so Zuppardis is my go to.

Try Zuppardis in West Haven next time you’re around, also try Pepe’s in Danbury, sometimes it sucks and sometimes it’s awesome.

I live in New Haven but went to Frank Pepe’s Pizza in Danbury last weekend. It was the same level of pizza but with a shorter line.

This thread reminds me my Grandsons got us three pizza’s from I believe , Modern they will ship to AZ . It’s probably time to collect. Going on 4 months removed from my last Ct Pizza ( Pepe’s in Danbury)

Which Pepe’s did you go to? I’d stay away from the one in Fairfield and in New Haven. Though recently had a terrific pie at the Danbury location after having had a bad experience there a couple years prior.

The large sausage & mushroom I got from Danbury Pepe’s a few weeks back was $34, with the $10 coupon I had on my phone it was $27 plus tax, and the pie was excellent!!! $47 being charged by Dominos is laughable.

I actually admire you for spending the money on a warming bag by IMO the pizza is going to steam regardless. I rarely get takeout pizza anymore - preferring to go to whichever place and dine-in instead. That being said, the BEST way to enjoy take out pizza is to actually prop the box open for...

...been critical of Pepe’s for the past ten years compared to Modern, Sally’s or Zuppardis but I have to admit, a few weeks ago I stopped at the Danbury Pepe’s on my way home from work and picked up a large sausage and mushroom put it in my $90 pizza warmer bag and drove home to Kent. Pulled...

I don’t have one for Norwalk, but the other day on my way home from work in Bethel, I knew I would be driving past Frank Pepe’s in Danbury near the Brookfield line and decided to call the wife and say “how about I pick up a pizza on the way home?”, and she said fine. Now I had had Pepe’s on a...

...thicker crust square pie is unique to this area and they have a top notch red sauce. And I’m a sucker for the ‘roni “cups.” Good beer too, especially if you aren’t strictly into IPA’s. I don’t see many restaurants serving OEC. The bartender told me the owner previously opened Stanziatos in...

Having eaten at the Sally’s in Stamford numerous times, I would say you’re spot on. I describe it as “an enjoyable take” on Sally’s Wooster Street. It’s not the same. It’s better than the satellite Pepe’s locations compare to the original. Which is why I’m not that jazzed about Pepe’s Stamford...

When I was in my teens my Dad owned a pizza parlor in Danbury. To this day I've never had any other pizza than what my mother makes, or what I make. Dad isn't around any longer. My Mom makes an incredible clam pizza, and in the summer she does it out on the grill. She has perfected that...

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

I’d take Modern or Zuppardis over Pepe’s any day. Pepe’s was great 30 years ago, not so great nowadays, and the satellite places in Danbury and Fairfield are worse. They slice their sausage thin to save money, don’t have the big sausage chunks like they do at Zupps or Modern. Pepe’s is ok, but...

About 30 seconds in the microwave to heat the inside and roughly 3 minutes in the air fryer works for me with respect to the bar pies I get here in Jersey and when I take-out from Pepe's Danbury on the way home from CT seems to work for me.

...pizza but that’s me. The best NY/Conn style I’ve found is Grimaldi’s they make us an off menu pie. When I’m in Ct I will go to Pepe’s in Danbury for their summer pie. and white birch soda. New Haven is a brutal trip from Litchfield County I use to go there often when my brother was...

I was thinking of Roseland when I mentioned the Valley, but have always liked Jimmies and Buffalina too. I’d take a $15 Jimmies plain large pie any day over the Pepe’s medium sausage & mushroom pie in I had in Danbury last week, which cost me $25.

The local shops here in North Jersey always have slices with bake ziti, chicken parm, and the basics available. I actually liked the chicken parm slice that's offered at Basil's in Hoboken years ago. Soaks-up the booze while I'm waiting for the train ride back to the 'burbs after a night out...

...changed. At one time, 35 or 40 years ago "the Spot" had the best pie in the state. Even slightly better than the big Pepe's right next door. Pepe's has fallen off a cliff since they opened more restaurants. Last Saturday my wife and I were not happy with the pizza we had at Pepe's in Danbury.
