I agree on Thybulle, he might have been even better than Clarke in that he would have made Smart expendable. Smart being their most trade-able contract & the guy that jacked up 20 shots when forced into starters minutes and role due to Hayward's ineffectiveness. IF Ainge took Fultz he'd be...

    NBA Draft Thread

I don't like Ainge's mid-first drafting choices, Langford was a HUGE mistake lat year (arguably worst first round pick vs if they take Brandon Clarke they might have been in finals), BUT both the pretty recent Tatum swap and the Pierce/Garnett Brooklyn trade were all-time fleecings. Celtics have...

    NBA Draft Thread

Agree, I'd think its either Turner or Oladipo - no way both unless Boston put Smart in play (GWillliams and/or any other reserves, draft picks or other chattel will not suffice). ON the either/or, Turner fits the need better, but I'd be psyched for the potential upside of Oladipo, he's...

    NBA Draft Thread

That's possible I suppose, but if that is the deal the Celtics wanted don't they refuse to extend the option and keep the proverbial gun to Hayward's head and try and strong-arm the deal? Or if Hayward knows that is inevitable then he declines the option a day ago. I'm thinking that both sides...

Dr Dinosaur: TV ratings? Yes the NBA like all other sports entertainment is/will suffer a pandemic downturn. Prior to that annual revenues were rising. https://www.statista.com/statistics/193467/total-league-revenue-of-the-nba-since-2005/ P.S. black lives matter.

    NBA Draft Thread

You are right, it would be insanity UNLESS Hayward knew that there were other offers pending. There are at least a half a dozen teams with 15MM+/yr to spend on free agents, yet the #1 unrestricted free agent this year is.... um... Van Vleet and Hayward is #2. So although Hawyard almost certainly...

Edwards - that article was enlightening, I like him more after reading it and will be rooting for him to succeed. He was honest in the first interview, nothing wrong with that and the kids obviously had really loss in his life. That said, the top of this draft was thin and anyone of the 3 guys...

    OT: Best Beer

So what's the verdict so far on what you picked up? I'm thinking of a pre-ThanksG trip, probably not on a Friday based on your wait time. The only time I've waited more than a few cars at Trillium in Canton was a Saturday in August.

    OT: Best Beer

Crap, I was in the middle of ordering 2 weeks ago, got delayed by work and Shark sold out. Looks like it’s gone now, but two new interesting offerings. The almond crunch is a good dessert beer, had one on Halloween and 2nd tonight. I like it better than the coffee type stouts.

I liked some of those Daily Servings, was surprised that my wife didn't. in the current must buy a 4 pack environment I didn't like any enough to keep ordering.. About halfway thru a case of Trillium's, in ascending order: Heavy Mettle - decent double but was disappointed that it wasn't more...

    Azzi Fudd

Too bad she's not playing this year, Azzi may need the UConn crowd to be vewy, vewy quiet before she shoots.

    No Fans This Season

"Most" people are wearing masks. Until it is everyone we've got a chance of problems. Likewise on gatherings, even those of us being vigilant have our 'bubbles' where no masks are worn and multiple interactions outside the bubble create the odds that inevitably penetrate these bubbles. I've seen...

    OT: Tua/Left-Handed QBs

Good one, golf already high barrier to entry due to costs/time - paucity of lefty clubs makes the barrier even higher for lefties. Unique in that I think all of the other equipment/cost barrier sports don't have lefty/righty equipment: skiing, gymnastics, cycling, racing (assume car...

    OT: Tua/Left-Handed QBs

That offensive necessity point, brings me back to its weird in basketball that there aren't more lefties. In a spread offense put a right-handed shooting wing on the right side and a left handed shooting wing on the left side and the combo provides fractional advantages, namely a quicker release...

    OT: Tua/Left-Handed QBs

Yeah, seems like for lax & hockey being left sticked could be preferable on defense but a disadvantage on offense if a typical defender is right sticked. Are most lacrosse goalies left-sticked to better defend right-handers? Or does it not matter. I know only what little I've learned in 2yrs of...

    OT: Best Beer

Very little love for NE at Great American Beer fest this year, I'd assume its a west coast bias (up & down style, they prefer beers that don't play defense). Nothing for VT which is sacrilege in my book although maybe all the breweries we've recently discussed have already received their...

    OT: Tua/Left-Handed QBs

What are the stats for lefty success in various sports? Seems like lower than % in general population. Football - QB's under-represented, I'd guess irrelevant at all other positions save kicker? Baseball - more lefty's than usual, definitely among pitchers Basketball - There SHOULD be more...

    OT: Best Beer

Driving 3-4 hours to VT for no other reason is overkill for me, but when you combine skiing and restaurants it makes what was already a fun trip even better. Pretty much why I've never been to Treehouse: Wait it is an hour away? There is nothing else around there? You have to wait how long in...

    OT: Best Beer

Nice summary. I agree 100% with your assessments. Trillium Canton indeed sucks, in contrast the Boston restaurant is too fancy - screams over priced. At least in Canton there is the illusion that your money is going solely to make great beer. The Greenway is a nice middle, haven't been to...

    OT: Best Beer

I dunno, my company did one of those beer making things (Hopsters) two years ago, they delivered the beers to our offices and a bunch of us took between a week and 3 months to bring them home. No preservatives so they were supposed to have been kept cold. Mine were home within 10 days, then kept...

Interesting analogies. Is this the same buddy putting his foot and his ___ into the respective sneakers and high school girl? Do you throw out the sneakers? The chase and finding the beer is part of the fun, but once I've been to the brewery assuming I had a good experience I become a fan of...

Hurley Roster Breakdown, Player by Player, Hartford Courant Dom Amore

Gaffney had a few finishes on layups/revers layups last year that were extremely athletic yet he made them look easy. It kind of came out of nowhere each time and each time I was intrigued at how he made an incredibly athletic difficult finish look rudimentary.

This reminds me of when my youngest son was 3.5 years old. It was a cold spring day, but the outdoor ice cream place had just opened for the season so we got cones. He was shivering, looked up and said ‘Dad, the ice cream is hurting me!’ Then he resumed eating ice cream.

    OT: Best Beer

Definitely agree. Anything more than 2 x 16 oz IPAs and it is trouble. I think it is a combo of the Hops & sugar & of course higher alcohol content. I like the Candlepins from Castle Island - taste kind of like an IPA, but lower alcohol content and effects more like domestic beer.

    OT: Best Beer

Eh, why does every craft brewery have to aspire to national distribution? It definitely isn't about getting bought out by the giant breweries anymore & there is now lots of room for local beers to find a niche. The Alchemist & Heady is a bit more than that and certainly profited early from...

    OT: NBA Playoffs

There is a chasm between losing best defensive guard 4 months ago and leading scorer and best defender in the middle of game 1. The Lakers were favored even with Dragic & Bam, without them it unfortunately became a far lesser/non-competitive series played at a much lower level than it would have...

Jim Calhoun memorabilia- Was I duped?

When I was a kid I really wanted autographs. It has been fun to have UConn players sign things for my kids, but otherwise I don't really see the point of autographed memorabilia. Paradoxically, I do have one autographed item that I care deeply about and treasure. ON the cert of authenticity...

    OT: NBA Playoffs

I see a lot of Miami bench that was ineffective against the Celtics due to the C's plethora of wings coming into play in this series. Olenik will have at least one game with buckets, Kendrik Nunn & Derrick Jones Jr are as good as the various B-listers the Lakers roll out (Morris, washed Danny...
