    NBA Restart

Before the DH, games averaged under 2.5 hours. And they were still under 3 hrs in 1999. Now they're around 3.25 hours for 9 innings. Before the DH, teams used an average of 2.4 pitchers per game. In 1999 that was 3.5, last year it was 4.7. As to your point about "buying a media narrative"...

OT: Anyone here ever get their knee scoped?

That is encouraging, thanks. I have the Krispies but it was never painful, just some arthritis that's been benign to date. I enjoy bikingl

OT: Anyone here ever get their knee scoped?

I have two tears in my right knee, one in MCL, other in meniscus. Happened back in late March. I was doing PT for awhile, which worked initially until it didn't and started getting worse. Had an MRI that docs were surprised at since they thought it should've healed. I go back to docs in a couple...

    Anyone see the tornado today?

I don't know where your are in PA, but we get them occasionally in and around Pittsburgh. In recent years, this was the worst one, damage wise, back in 1998. Carnegie is about six miles from my house. Had a couple nearby this year. And those microbursts you speak of can kill as well.

    Favorite Restaurant in CT

I'll go lowbrow and say Colony as that's something I enjoyed regularly that I can't get in Pittsburgh. It's been 20 years since I lived there, so I assume pretty much any higher end place I enjoyed is closed or no longer good.

    Movie Hindsight 2020

I mostly said "should lead to sequels" because who knows how much $ it would've made in theatres. IMDB says it was a $70 mill budget, so not too expensive as action movies go. I assume there will be one. Theron wants one, but not right away. And the Booker/Quynh storyline begs maybe even a third.

    Movie Hindsight 2020

It moved crisply, action was good, plot made sense and should lead to sequels. I had one bugaboo at the end, in the climactic scene which involves the villain and a car, there's nary a soul that sees the action, but the moment the good guys leave the scene, hundreds of people and cops show up...

    Jim Calhoun's Best Coached Game

Yep. First time there, underdogs, team stayed focused, solid subs, solid time management, almost as if there were no nerves at all. I'd have to go with 2011 as a #2, but that encompasses the whole run as it was a rather lousy championship game, but he did make 2nd half adjustments that worked.

    Baseball Blahs

That was a missed opportunity, IMO. Baseball is probably the most radio-friendly sport, so it didn't even have to be televised for people to tune in and perhaps capture or re-capture fans. While I object to anyone saying "MLB didn't have any plan", they didn't have the best one. IMO, the best...

    NBA Restart

Baseball has only itself to blame for 2 hour games becoming 3.5 hour games. That said, the lack of a clock and the fact that the home team gets last raps makes it differently better than other sports. It's a shame the ADD generation doesn't like pitchers duels.

The Most Overrated Bands in History

I can see an argument for every one of them to be included, but it's different arguments for each one. Most decent bands have enough solid material for one good to excellent album. It's very rare for any band to have two incredible albums, let alone three or more. Of that list, other than the...

    Favorite Comedy Sketch

Oddly, I can't find a video of it, but it was probably the only good thing the otherwise forgettable Gary Kroeger did while he was on SNL. The sketch was simply that he was at a doctor's office in a tall building and told he had only 5 minutes to live and to make it the best 5 minutes of his...

    OT: Baseball is screwed!

The issue with that is that even if every player abides to protocols - and that's a big if - operating staff, trainers, and other clubhouse personnel who are part of traveling parties are not part of the union. That said, I'm glad baseball tried. It's been a welcome diversion. I hold out hope...

Will Miguel Cabrera reach 3000 hits?

Miggy is in, without a doubt as he was dominant for a time, unlike guys like Rolen, Grich, Whitaker, Lofton, Nettles, etc. who compiled good WAR numbers but were never MVPs, let alone multiple times.

Yeah, it's the same thing. My recollection was not offensive, but not something I'd seek out. With everything else on the plate, I didn't really notice it. As an aside, I actually enjoyed my first encounter with haggis, tatties and neeps. But that wore off after a second try. You know, if we...

    OT: Great opening song riffs

Well, back in the 60s, S&G weren't exactly known for rockers, and that lead in was a great sound, arguably even innovative for its time. And the Bangles best songs were usually written by someone else :p I actually liked Vicki best. She was a boss with some talent. And yes, it is a great cover.

We have both brands here in Pgh. Typically $5.99/doz vs $1.69 for "regular" large eggs. Local farmer's market eggs are usually around $6/doz, but they're like the first thing that sells out at pretty much every market, so have to get there early.

In Scotland, they had the decency to call it "black" pudding. Thankfully, when I was there, I was doing a ton of walking every day. Not a breakfast that sits lightly in one's gut. But it was delicious. Typically 2 eggs, two bangers, two rashers, a slice each of lorne sausage and black pudding...

Tonight's dinner. I had defrosted a lb of ground meat but didn't feel like burgers. Since you didn't specify a recipe, I just ad libbed. Ricotta with a bit of lemon and pepper, ricotta meatballs, simple arugula/spinach salad, pomegranate vinegar and evoo. Not bad. Wife approves too.
