UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

Right. I think it just is reality. We joined FBS in 2000. That has always been the major factor holding us back. I mean, are there any programs in the P5 that were FCS until the 21st century? I certainly can't think of any.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

Personally, I find it hard to imagine we were ever really considered above Pitt given their much longer FBS football tradition.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

I think UConn had a shot but I don’t think we flubbed the opportunity. I think we just didn’t have the pedigree to beat out Cuse or Pitt and when it came to Louisville they had more of what the ACC football powers desired.

UConn's Football Failures Are Catching Up to It, and the School Has Itself to Blame (P. Forde @ SI Column)

The article is ridiculous. The suggestion that a school of UConn's caliber in a market the size of the state of CT can't sustain an FBS football program is just wrong. The Pasqualoni hire was terrible and Diaco didn't work out. We'll see if Randy can get us back to where we were when he left...

I work at Travelers. The promo code for Travelers has been Travelers for years. They let us know when it’s active, tickets aren’t usually free, and you never have to prove you work there to use it. I understand why people who bought tickets and season tickets are mad but obviously having a...

Great idea but I think the AAC's current contract would prevent Fox from doing that this season. It would still be great if they did something like that for UConn's first season back as an FBS independent.

Other than spite, why wouldn't the AAC keep UConn football on a reduced payout?

It's going to be hilarious if we actually have a halfway decent football season and pull some upsets on our way out of the AAC.

A commitment from Mashantucket Pequot & Mohegan tribes could help XL Center funding, legislator say.

I've been preaching this for years. Why put it in East Windsor to compete with downtown? Makes no sense. It needs to be built downtown and in conjunction with the XL Center renovation. There is plenty of room for it in the Allyn St./Ann St. area. One casino is not going to turn Hartford into...

Hartford to Host NCAA Tournament in 2019

CT people have issues. Seriously, this is awesome news for Hartford and CT. It demonstrates why having a decent arena is important for the city, region and state. I hope this is not going to be the last national sporting event we ever see downtown.

Blaudschun: UConn Switching BC Home Game to Fenway?

UConn getting over $1 million to move game to Fenway Park Connecticut is getting the biggest game guarantee in school history to move a home game vs. Boston College in 2017 to Fenway Park. UConn’s game vs. BC was announced Thursday along with a matchup between Massachusetts and Maine as...

    Who actually brings value

I think Frank gets that. It's the BC and Wake fans that are arguing that their schools value is on par with UConn's in a vacuum that is silly.

Premium Ways the B12 Can Die in a Fire Thread

How TV pushback could mold Big 12 expansion Brigham Young, of course, isn't a Power 5 school, and yet, that's largely because the school chose to remain independent for decades. It has a fan base to rival many Power 5 schools. Ditto for the football tradition, the brand recognition and the...

Hmmm, sounds like UConn to the ACC?

Makes too much sense. Solidify the Northeast and build a bridge from Pitt to ND. Also get into B1G territory.

Big 12 TV partners push back on expansion

Exactly. They need to nut up. Take UConn, BYU, and whoever else. Probably Cincy and one more. Get the money per the contract but be open to negotiate on GOR Extension in exchange for more money and/or B12 Network.

I'd like to think this is where they put their foot down against Memphis. I think UConn is in decent shape if its about FOX and ESPN determining who has the most value and the conference still having designs on a conference TV network down the line.

Big 12 expansion: Basketball power rankings | Hookem.com Yeah, it’s not even close. In terms of basketball, the Big 12 should be begging UConn to join the conference. Texas Governer : B12 expansion a non-starter without Houston

I definitely agree. I think the non TX schools really won't want another TX school but if UT really wants UH, that will likely be overcome. UConn, UC, and Houston all have athletic programs that have had historical success and all have a high ceiling IMO. From a brand perspective, this is...

    Texas Governer : B12 expansion a non-starter without Houston

UT Prez apparently just tweeted support for UH being considered as well. I think UConn, UC, and UH are all looking like strong favorites right now. I think UCF/USF/possibly Memphis are alternates if BYU can't make it work.
