I don't understand why this (or something similar) won't stick. This is basketball, not college. Kids can go to whatever college they get admission to and get an education... no sitting out a year. They can transfer 10 times, if they want.
But, why can't the NCAA make up rules for their...
I don't have anything against UCONN. I just saw there were 0 fouls called in the entire 1Q and then for about a 6-minute stretch of 2Q, I thought UCONN could've been called for a foul on just about every UNC possession, often multiple times on the same one.
UCONN is lucky the refs swallowed the whistle on them. They were playing some 90's-style NBA defense for much of that 1st half with 0 fouls being called.
Is that part of the transfer negotiations? Asking, because I don't know - but could a school that normally only allows 2 years of credits to transfer, just waive that for basketball player it really wants to join the team as a senior?
Committee can consider whatever they want, but when it comes down to 2 teams that are close, I think that if head-to-head is on the table, it should be the #1 consideration.
Doesn't mean I'd leave ASU out, but BYU > ASU.
I think Richmond is probably done. A10 isn't getting 3 teams and I can't see anyone in good faith voting for Richmond over George Mason (who probably needs the AQ, themselves).
Columbia loses final regular season game to Harvard. If there was any doubt, that probably also eliminates them from...
Here's another version of a criteria that might work:
Any team that finishes with 25+ D1 wins and 1st or 2nd in their conference gets an AL bid. You could pick your normal heavily NET-influenced "68" using the current criteria - then just add however many of those "25+" teams. Doing a quick...
What I don't like is when you have P4 teams making the Tournament with seasons that can get their coach fired and MM schools don't make the Tournament with seasons that might get their coach a 3-year extension.
Like I said above, I think there needs to be clarity about what the Tournament is...
Sorry. Merrimack's HC won the award. Nothing for their coach or team to be ashamed of, they finished 3rd in the MAAC at 18-11(15-5) and were picked 8th. But, they also finished with a #232 NET (a 33 rank improvement from last year's #265) and a best victory of #276(!) NET.
Compare that to #51...
Unless you consider the win @ Stanford to be impressive, I don't think they have anything in their OOC to brag about.
They are 8-8 in the SEC... which includes 5-2 vs. the bottom 6 teams in the SEC. They are 2-10 vs. ranked teams. Tough ranked teams, mostly, but still the results are the...
