The only reason USC is against it is because they aren’t included in the top tier payout with Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State.
USC is included in a second tier payout with Oregon.
The other 14 are grouped together in a third tier payout.

It seems to me that any private equity deal would only come after a conference is done expanding and has all of its wanted members for at least a generation. Signing this deal would complicate adding Notre Dame, Miami, UNC, FSU, or anyone else for the B1G. How would the new members receive...
If this happens, how would that impact B1G expansion? I'm assuming the B1G would not want to share their influx of money with new members, just as I'm sure the Cal Pension Fund may not want to give more money to pay for new members.
If I understand it correctly, the investor is paying for a share of future B1G revenue. So the B1G gets all this money upfront, in exchange, B1G revenues will be split 20 ways ---- 18 shares to each school, 1 share to the conference itself, and 1 share to this outside investor. And new revenue...
The Mountain West targeted the wrong MAC school. I think the Ohio Bobcats would have been a better target. The Bobcats have scored more points against Ohio State this season - 9 - than any other school, including Texas and Washington.
