2021 Coaching Carousel picking up riders…

Successful coaches believe in themselves. A young successful coach even more so. Failure isn't in their vocabulary, especially one who hasn't experienced it yet. Even if he doesn't do well and is there only for the one contract, its $20-$25 million later. To someone's comment earlier...

How many 4* recruits does Hurley need to not lose to USF?

This!!! Forget about the height. Current squad can’t match up with physically stronger teams. Carlton can’t match up physically and as a result goes in the tank. The guards can’t get clean penetration because they get bodied up and end up taking altered shots at the rim. Teams they struggle...

I have no inside info, but all you have to do is look at coaches that have been assistants under Edsall and what they have done scheme wise elsewhere to believe that some level of restriction was placed on them while under Edsall. UConn rarely blitzed under Todd Orlando. His first year out of...

Growing Trend of Midseason Redshirting Has Caused a Divide in College Football (SI)

“I think a school like UConn should take advantage of this.. We have everything in place accept for the success on the field part...” ....or a league or a schedule.

Edsall is doing an amazing job with our culture.

I am far from being an apologist and truly wish HCRE would focus less on “pay for play” and more on on-field results. That said, in RE 1.0 it was not until the 2nd half of year 4 (2002) that consistency in performance was seen. They started out 2-6 before drubbing Kent St (or FAU can’t...

Billy Crocker’s departure as UConn’s defensive coordinator due to many factors (Fuller)

I don’t think the coach discriminated against who he implied wasn’t talented enough (meaning the entire team). But I understand what you are saying. My point was the players did not seem to care that they were getting embarrassed week in and week out and I think it’s because they believed they...

Billy Crocker’s departure as UConn’s defensive coordinator due to many factors (Fuller)

Players heard from HCRE via the press how “slow, small, weak, generally untalented” they were multiple times and it sunk in. Compounding that was the fact that there didn’t seem to be any consequences for playing poorly or giving what appeared to be poor effort. If you believe you stink and...

    Loafing.

Agree. From game 1 on any given play 7 or 8 of the 11 are doing their jobs and going all out. But 3 or 4 aren’t. Problem is that it’s a different 7 or 8 and 3 or 4 every play. There’s not much of a pattern where it can be addressed with a small group because it’s a lot of people.

    Z Scott

If true, I wonder why Edsall thought that.....let’s see. For starters as soon as his run with the 1st team declined as he was getting beat out by O’Reilly and Scott he decided to transfer rather than compete. If O’Reilly doesn’t get hurt in a non-contact special teams drill we aren’t having...

    Hey students

Yes Really. Look many of those kids aren't making it into the game anyway. Either they had no intention or were to trashed to make it. But 10:30? Come on.

    Edsall-Crocker

I think Buddy Ryan could do better at demanding effort across the board from snap to whistle. First Rhody TD pass the kid stopped playing I think because he thought the WR stepped out of bounds before catching the ball but for god's sakes play to the whistle. Same thing in the fourth quarter...

    Hey students

But they didn't get kicked out at game time. They were told at 10:30am to get into the stadium or get on the busses back to campus. The state police literally shut down the student tailgate at 10:30

Nate Hopkins has left the team

Maybe O’Reilly came back in better shape, stronger and quicker than the other RBs. Maybe he is more versatile and is a multi-down back. I’ve said a few times not to over look him. I doubt there are many (if any) guys on that team that are as focused AND work harder than that kid. He knows...
