I don’t really agree that Hawkins was a significantly better player as a sophomore than Solo at the same age. They have about the same per season stat line. They’re about even as a shooter. Hawkins a slightly better defender but Solo at least started turning that around end of season (also Hawk...
What a weird take. We should stop recruiting a kid because four of the best programs around are also recruiting them and kids might be considering playing there?
Nah it’s even worse than that since the dude doubled down and tried to say it’s Solo’s defense that will keep him off the court when we don’t have any idea what Mullins will bring on that end and I don’t think he projects as a defensive stopper or anything like that.
I’m pretty sure the clown...
Not to knock Ross and Abraham too much in a thread that isn't really about them but if that's what Cloer projects do we really want to sign him? Ross has a few years under his belt now, hasn't shown much and may not play too frequently this year and Abraham isn't on the team. Wouldn't it be...
I know this is the wrong place to be advancing this argument but I’m not sure that, even with Dyson, UConn beats UNC in the championship game that year. Impossible? No, but that UNC team is a wagon.
Almost definitely would have beaten Sparty on their de facto home court though for sure.
Agree with this. Think some posters are saying not just what you are - that Reibe will
be a great backup center option - with the idea that he’s going to play a huge, freshman Clingan-like role. If he can come in for 10-12 minutes a game or whatever and play solid defense and get a few buckets...
I just don’t think the international competition he faced this summer is going to be anywhere close to the high D1 level he sees this year. It’s why I’m reluctantly pumping the brakes on my own Furphy hype train too. It’s a big learning curve, especially defensively, especially in a scheme like...
Right but isn’t that sort of related as it seems like Hurley likes his guards and wings to play uber aggressive on the ball at the risk of getting beat off the dribble knowing that the 5 is protecting the rim? Big ask of a freshman 5 defensively
I wouldn't say deeper. I'm not even sure I'd say guaranteed to be better. SJ knew Dan Hurley's system incredibly well and while he wasn't at the level of Clingan and doesn't have the ceiling Reed has he was far from last year's biggest problem.
Same backup wise - Reibe has a lot of potential but...
Pretty much tracks what most of us have assumed re: starting lineups/rotations/strengths and weaknesses right?
Really the only starting spot up in the air is the 3, and whomever loses out on that one is first man off the bench. One of Stewart/Ross hopefully breaks through and either starts or...
But that predicting and prognosticating goes both ways right? Agree that no one knows now but I think some predictions seem more likely than others - e.g. that it’s not very likely Furphy passes Stewart, Mullins and Ross to start at SF this year.
