The other time it happened for UConn was in the 2002 draft, when Sue Bird and Swin Cash went 1 and 2. So to my mind, there were nine times when UConn players were selected before players from anywhere else.
I think you have to count a little differently. If the top two (or even three!) picks are from the same school, they should all be counted, because that school had more than one player chosen before any player from any other school. This, of course, gives UConn an even higher total!
Maybe I'm too sensitive, but why this headline: "JuJu Watkins, Hannah Hidalgo lead women's AP All-America team"? The article later states that Watkins, Paige and Lauren Betts were unanimous choices, and Hidalgo was named in all but two ballots.
Re: 2/28 Bracketology -This is in the "not that it matters" category, but Charlie Creme would rather have a root canal than project UConn as a #1 seed.
Aubrey makes a difference! With all the starters out, UConn went scoreless for 5 minutes at the start of the 4th Qtr. Then Geno put Aubrey back in, and UConn scored 12 points over the final 5 minutes.
Just watched that one on the highlight reel. Both UConn players very clearly fouled. The one on AE could even have been a flagrant. Ridiculous that there were no whistles there.
NO QUESTION, Maya belongs on the list, and near the top of it! Also, you can't quantify "style", but Maya had the most beautiful game. I'll never forget her finger-roll layups.
Another issue with this list - why the top seven? Why not eight or ten or fifteen? Maybe the author only listed those...
Lots of posters here bemoaning a "bad second half" etc. But it was actually just a three-and-a-half minute lull in which SJU scored 16 points (including banked three's) to our 3 points. I don't like "lulls" but to me, that was the only bad spell of the game. Without that run, we win by 28...
So many tough games for so many teams. As of last Monday, there were seven teams with just one loss in the top 25 (and undefeated SC). Five of the seven suffered losses last week, and UCLA lost tonight. And Baylor is leading Kansas State at the start of the second half.
