The Moon's situation was typical of a lot of HS players.
Her Orbit of family and friends filled her head about her sky high potential.
Coaches talked about her, out of this world talent.
However, when she got to school, she couldn't crack the rotation.
The gravity of not meeting expectations...
No matter how much talent you have or how many points you beat your opponents by, when you can't make a basket , you lose.
As UConn fans, we understand the Final Four is the worst time to have those bad shooting nights.
The only thing that saves you from these bad nights is dominant rebounding...
The 2000-2001 team was a team of basketball Hall of Famers. In the title game, we were up 49-37. We lost the second half to Notre Dame, 53-26. Probably the worst half of basketball ever played by a Geno Team. That was the game Taurasi went 1-15 and 0-11 from threes.
I think our biggest need will be rebounding. Can't leave it all up to Sarah.
More efficient low post scoring. 55% shooting from 3 feet is really not good.
Guards who can rebound also. We missed Paige's scoring but she was a very good rebounder.
Also, we can see how 3 point shooting comes and...
Geno's problem with Serah is/was when she had the ball at the foul line her defender was nowhere near her. She was left totally unguarded, clogging the offense for the other UConn players.
We scored 4 points in the last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. When your best players never play in the 4th quarter the entire season, maybe they are not ready to play in one when needed.
Any talk about Geno's attitude needs to wait until we find out what made him so angry.
This ain't Little League.
