Any team that plays Dallas has one strategy. Stop Bueckers by double teaming her and bumping and holding her. Let other people beat them by allowing the Bergers, Jones and anyone else to shoot.
It's hard to believe, but Paige's game is really improving as a pro. She has added a "Street" element that gets oohs and awes from the fans.
Last night she was 7/10 from inside the arc, (Arike 1/7).
She has mentioned that she wants to take it to the basket more, a la Old Dude's post above...
Paige, as usual, played her very good, solid game. If I could have one small critique, it would be when the lane opens up for her, she needs to get to the rim, and not pull up for 6/7 footers where she doesn't use the rim.
Obviously Dallas's defense was atrocious. Nobody got back on defense, including Paige. Nobody kept their "man" in front of them with zero rotation.
A team that is really put together poorly.
The only minus we had last year was consistent post play which we solved with the Serah Williams transfer.
Our non-starters, whomever they may be, would be a top ten ranked team.
13 is not a given, but it wouldn't be a surprise either.
Geno was 100% wrong. A first time for me stating that here on the BY. Maybe 2nd, should have fouled that Stanford player L'Orange (sp?) before she hit that three.
Paige has adjusted to the physicality of the WNBA just fine and just doing "Paige" things like she always has.
Sometimes I feel bad for the other teams when watching a UConn beat down on them. Like watching the Battle of Little Bighorn. However, what I really enjoy is watching the UConn players playing up to their abilities and executing Geno's brilliant game plans.
I don't like the " Mt . Rushmore" analogy as it limits us to 4 choices. If we project out the future, there will be so many former UConn players in the Basketball Hall of Fame they will need to give them an entire wing of the place.
The discussion should be who will eventually have a plaque there,
