As for South Carolina, I'll call this another example of the Beat UConn Euphoria Syndrome. It seems that over the years, when a lower-ranked team knocks off UConn, they end up losing the very next game. I remember that happening with Stanford after they ended our winning streak and lost the next...
Last year in the pregame telecast before the National Championship game, Diana Taurasi gave her opinion. She said "You can throw that game in February out the window. This will be an entirely different game."
Uh, no
I just rewatched the Sweet 16 vs Oklahoma from last year. In many ways it was similar to what we went through today. We were actually behind at the half by 4 but ended up winning by 23. Interestingly, the arena in Spokane looked like it was almost full as opposed to the half-empty one in Fort Worth.
Listen to one of the men's games. The announcers are so much better (Thank you, Donny!) It's actually insulting to women's basketball. It's like they feel that women's basketball is so boring that the fans would rather listen to them jabber.
Actually it's even longer than that. Ramadan fasting begins at first light (fajr) which is over an hour before sunrise. She can't even drink water during the fast.
Re: Women's basketball coaches who don't want UConn in their league. If/when Geno retires, I'll bet every one of those coaches would apply for his job.
