I think the mobile 7 footer is the real college basketball cheat code. If you have a Clingan/Mara, that’s a unicorn level player that gives a massive advantage over other teams.
Gives you great rim protection which can hide a lot of other defensive limitations on the roster, and a lob threat...
Bring in a Malachi/Hassan equivalent player, and let County beat him out if he’s good enough. But he shouldn’t walk in the door as the presumptive backup until he’s earned it.
We are spending ~$14M on a championship level roster. why would we take a risk at backup pg, that could torpedo the...
If he has the length/mass to play minutes at the 4 that would be awesome and give us a lot more roster flexibility.
But I am very curious if the plan is to cover the 4 with two “tweeners” (Khamenia & Landrew), or if they will bring in a more pure 4.
Going with Khamenia/Landrew could leave us...
Can he really play the 4 in high level D1 as a 6’6” freshman?
Seems like we have a lot of guys that are more natural 3s. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
That is no different than this year and look at how critical Smith was.
We can’t rely on a freshman in that role. Too big of a risk for a national title contender. It could derail the entire season.
Freeman seems rail thin for a 4. But I guess that is offset by his length.
Also very worried about his injury history but assuming the staff must be comfortable enough.
Definitely high upside, but a lot of risk.
If we land both Khamenia/Freeman I can’t imagine both Ball & Mullins...
Yea he needs to be way more assertive next year getting his own offense, especially attacking the paint.
He had a great year but was painfully hesitant/deferential at times.
