    UConn Bigs

If you believe (or if Geno believes) that Gandy may ultimately qualify for four more seasons of eligibility despite her brief appearances in games this year, then it makes perfect sense to preserve that option. Playing regularly, even in garbage time, would make the case for "four more years"...

    UConn Bigs

I didn't see the game being discussed, but if the criticism of Olivia is that she hovered at half court when her team attempted a fast break, that is typically what a big should do -- because there is a high probability that the ball will be coming back the other way after a missed shot, an...

Wow, didn’t see this transfer coming

I especially liked the line about "talking with my inner circle".

    Ice Brady in the portal

Might we see her at Marquette next year, to replace Skylar Forbes? Or somewhere else in the Big East, where coaches are likely to be more familiar with her abilities than those in other conferences? (Not to mention that the Big East has a need for players with size ...)

Can Kayleigh Become A Consistent Double Figure Scorer Next Year?

I agree that K9 has a lot of physical ability. Geno seemed to imply that his reluctance to recruit her out of HS was because of her temperament and her tendency to play out of control, but as a freshman at Southern Cal, she showed major progress on that. I think 10-12 points per game is...

    UConn Bigs

I think that the biggest question about Olivia V is "movement, fluidity, even quickness" (as stated by a poster above). I don't think it's critical for a 5 in UConn's system to have those qualities on offense (there is enough of it at the other positions), but on defense, a serious shortcoming...

    Tilda Trygger - possibility?

I know of a player named Morgan Cheli who seems to fit your description of what UConn needs on its roster next year. For that matter, Blanca answers your description as well.

Best UConn team that never was.

Broadening the scope a bit, I think that "the best UConn team that never was" might have been the one that featured Elena Della Donne as a teammate of Maya, Renee, and Tina for a few years. They might not have lost a game for the entire period that EDD and Maya played together.

Positional Awards announced last night (???)

Besides the dispute about who played better on Friday night, it's also important to realize that the awards are based on season-long performance, not one game even if it is head-to-head. And since Joyce did not guard Sarah most of the time, it wasn't really head-to-head anyway.

    Im sorry but....

I'm not sure what your point is in your various posts on this thread. Is it that neither Geno, Phil Jackson, or any other coach would have been very successful without great players? I think everyone here would agree with that. Or are you claiming that anyone on the Boneyard, if they had the...

What do you think it will take to beat SC

My intuition, unsupported by any convincing evidence, is that the margin of victory in this game will be greater than 10 points -- either by UConn or SC. I do not think it will come down to the last possession. Basically, somebody's game plan will work, and somebody's won't. UConn will win by...

    Game Analysis - NCAA - Game 5 - UConn v. South Carolina

I assume you are referring to Blana Quinonez, and I agree with you about that. @GamecockFam , I "liked" your post because of the relative objectivity of your analysis and the courteous tone in which it was delivered, but NOT because I agree with your forecast of the outcome. But you knew that...

OT: Nika Mühl out for 2026 season

Nika got through four years at UConn without a scratch, and then has two ACL's at the start of her pro career. Very unfortunate.

Early line on UConn vs SC

I expect that Blanca, rather than Ashlynn or KK, will be UConn's third scorer. She will certainly get starter's minutes, even if she comes off the bench at the start of both halves. I wonder how South Carolina will defend UConn's "small lineup", with Sarah, Blanca, and three guards. But I...

    New steps

Moving screens have been called several times in recent games. I remember one such call against Notre Dame in Sunday's game. The screener is allowed to hold her elbows in front, as long as no part of her body is moving into the path of the ball handler. I agree that the "legs wider than...
