Better than and shark stick in the eye, but to me, not enough money to forego college. He can always go back and play football though, so maybe not a bad plan for a 2-sport athlete
No, the scholarship is worth that. I imagine most are getting south of $20k in actual NIL. We will see how that changes now that the school can pay as well though.
The NIL isn't the same, but a half scholarship to somewhere like UConn and $10k in NIL is like a $30-40k a year value. Same that you will get in signing bonus, and a better experience. Getting drafted out of college has become the fastest way to get to the MLB. The development that these kids...
Is he going pro? Seems silly to not go play in college for a slot value of like $90k. He may get a little over, but that is not worth forgoing a college scholarship and NIL IMO. To go play in De Moines and live in a billet house?
I agree that it was a quick hook, especially given the implications of the game, but it is in line with the threshold I have seen from the NCAA. I wouldn't have tossed him, but he was pressing the issue and didnt simply say "you missed 3 calls" and go back.
Schnall should not be commended for his comments. He complains about a grown man shooing him back to the dugout and then makes fun of the other empire's athleticism in the same breath. He also did more than say "you missed three strikes." The ump said that is enough and told him to get back...
Brookfield knocked off Woodstock Academy in the second round of Class L today, 1-0. Brady Ericson was 1 for 2 with a single and K against Matt McDowell. McDowell was 1 for 1 and pitched 5 in giving g up 2 hits, 1BB, and 8 k for the W. Hard fought game featuring 2 future Huskies.
HookC fans will be happy to hear that McDowell has walked 16 against 64 K in 41 innings this year. For his career, he is 24-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 54 BB 254 K in 144 innings pitched at Brookfield. Also batting .430 with 2 HR and 7 2B this year.
He is my nephew. His biggest upside is on the mound where he has pushed upwards of 93-94mph. UConn has said he can try both and that the game will determine whether or not he can do it. I think he ultimately is a SP. Last fall he struck out 6 over 3 innings at a perfect game event. They...
