St. Johns used a basic "break the press" strategy that I have been surprised more teams don't use. I.e. keep the ball as much as possible in the middle of the court so sidelines don't act as another defender. Overall, St. John's was one of the best this year but unfortunately its guards, while...
Good assessment. Both Jana and Serah have shown recent, but not consistent, improvement. One game, one quarter, either Jana or Serah is excellent and then Geno benches them. Doesn't seem to be a reason other than the normal sub pattern. Would be interesting to see one or both play most of a...
IF the voters do a bit of research, they will see that in every tough game UConn had, Sarah played through her cough and outscored the opposition in whatever quarter was needed. Then Geno sat her down.
Pervious game against Villanova, Serah had an outstanding Third Quarter, scoring 6 points and getting multiple rebounds. I believe she also blocked several shots and had at least one assist and steal. Was very physical on both offense and defense. Then she was taken out. Hard to tell with her...
Serah had one of the best quarters a UConn big has has during Q3 of the Villanova game. Checked all the boxes-tough rebounds, physical offense, blocked shots, etc. Predict that this will carry over tomorrow.
Look out for Villanova in the future (potentially). Bascoe is the real deal-as good as any guard I have seen this year. She has the talent and played fearlessly versus UConn. If Villa. can get a 1-2+ new players, particularly some bigs, signed from any source, they could be top20 next year.
I...
Watched game again and came away with less (mostly) concerns. Since Blanca's absense, the first set of subs were usually K9 and Allie. Typically this injected an uptick of energy, new offensive options and defense. Blanca went in and had her poorest performance of the year, not unexpected...
