Best defensive player ever @ UConn and then in the NBA

Yeah - it was the NIT Semis. Barros had something like 25 at the half, and DePriest guarded him in the second half and held him to two points on two shots.

Elijah Allen was Ricky Moore's superhero origin story. He took that personally. And if you've never heard of Elijah Allen, be grateful for that.

    St. John's Post Game Thread

It took Steph some time to look beyond his years. There was a good stretch of the season when he was our weak link offensively and looked lost - broken jumper, air balls in the lane, bad reads, didn't fit in our system, etc. It came together piece by piece, and then he had some takeover moments...

Chief’s Briefs - St John Edition

The individual box score won’t include 2 team turnovers for shot clock violations (one deliberate one, one when Mali had his shot blocked in the first).

We didn’t run anything up. We scored 72 - and only 31 in the second half. Is there a such thing as “running it down” by not letting them make any baskets?

    February UConn in the Pros

Cam ends with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists (3-7, 1-3 from 3, with a toe on the line on a made 2). Unlucky on a couple runners in the lane not dropping - one touched every part of the rim and came out. He is now at 27 assists and no turnovers in his last 4 games. His scoring/shooting isn’t...

Cam also starting today (5 points on 2-4 shooting in first quarter). His shot hasn’t really been there lately, but he has 25 assists and no turnovers in his last three-plus games.

Those two couldn’t even beat Dan Cyrulik and Toraino Walker - and that was with Mark Tillmon scoring 24.

Kinda surprised that with the nba on break there isn’t a bigger slate of good college games to fill the tv void. You’d think this would be a good night to throw a Kentucky-Florida game on or something.

Ends 23-18-7 (no turnovers, 3 blocks). Frustrating fourth - nobody missed shots while he was out there to get a couple more rebounds … and his teammates didn’t find him on rolls a lot. Had a nice pass into the deep post for what would have been a layup and assist No. 8, but his teammate was...

Nice game going for Clingan with 17-13-5 as he sits with 6 minutes left in the third. A bit unlucky he doesn’t have more. Made a 3 just after the shot clock buzzer, had another bucket waved off, and he had a block/rebound on Filipowski waved off when they retroactively whistled Filipowski for...

Top 25 men's college basketball teams of all time

I’ve always thought on these lists that you should get docked points if you didn’t win all the hardware you could have. Kentucky 1995-96 and 2011-12 lost the SEC title games to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Villanova 2017-18 finished second in the Big East. (Same goes for our 2004 team...

    Emeka to Have Number Retired

That was my recollection as well. It was required for a finance major and he didn’t want to waste his time - so he just read the textbook and took the test. He also essentially graduated in 2.5 years and just strategically left himself one independent study class for a few credits in his last...

Clingan just kinda sorta dunked on Drummond. It was a lob and Drummond backed up and ended up underneath him - so it wasn’t really a straight up posterizing. But a little Nutmegger on Nutmegger violence.
