Maybe Castle’s best half as a pro in the second half tonight to end with 21-6-8 and 4 steals. He’s put up bigger volume numbers - but the second half was maybe 13 points on 5-6 shooting, 4 assists, no turnovers. Plus several hockey assists and guys missing open threes he gave them. Hit a big 3...
Spencer with a great little 3-minute stretch against Golden State. A couple 3s, an assist on the break, a hockey assist after breaking down the D. Just doing Cam things.
Development is fine and dandy for a team with limited aspirations. But my point is that we are watching the Spurs leap to contender status in real time - with a unicorn who a) may or may not always be healthy and b) will be the highest sought free agent in the history of the world if he ever...
Possible Castle may be fighting for minutes on the wing with Champagnie and Johnson more than with Fox. Spurs have the look of a team that can be a factor in the playoffs with this Wemby leap and they probably can’t be patient with a lead guard turning it over 7 times a game.
Spencer also did well in spot duty. 7 points in 12 minutes (2-3 from 3, but missed a FT so the 50-40-90 hopes took a hit, haha). Also 2 assists, no turnovers.
The thing that might keep him from the hall of fame discussion (other than some voters won’t vote for the 2017 Astros) is that he didn’t steal bases in Houston. Last 4 years in Toronto he’s been absurdly good (68 steals, 9 caught stealing - and was 18-19 this year with the one CS in the season...
Springer was awful in the Yankees series that year. Like 1-30 awful. Wasn’t til the World Series (in LA) that he came alive. There was talk about dropping him in the order before he went yard in extra innings.
Small sample size, but I don't really have any concerns yet about Mullins on defense. He competes on that end. Yesterday he made easily correctable mistakes on his fouls - fouling a three-point shooter twice and getting a little too handsy twice. But the second time he got too handsy, he was...
Not everything was ugly. Shooting was subpar - but 20 assists and 6 turnovers as a team is something I’ll take every time (especially since the 20 would have been higher if we knocked down more open threes).
Wasn’t like BC was passive defensively either. They got after us - changed defenses...
He missed a couple finishable shots - but he had two and ones, one while a guy was riding him like a horse. The other was a pretty nice soft finish while absorbing contact.
With freshmen as they adapt, you always like to see flashes of what they can do and give them time to develop more...
