    UConn Summer League 2025

No Liam today. They put him on the injury report with Achilles Tendinopathy. Could just be a rest day but if there’s something there, I imagine they might shut him down for summer league.

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

Pretty impressed with Reibe today. Scored in a variety of ways - on the move, back to the basket, showing good patience. And had a big three late to help stretch the lead out. On defense, he was pretty solid. Well schooled in keeping a high hand when he was switched on a guard and moving his...

    Massively Off Topic - Bidets

See - and just like that we are back on topic. Toto had Connecticut connections - the Porcaro brothers grew up in Hartford.

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

Fair enough. This is one of those cases I fully expect and hope to be proven wrong in time, maybe even against France. Regardless, once he’s in a system with teammates he’s practiced with for a while, it should be different. Knowing where the next pass should go more intuitively. I also need to...

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

I mean, during that stretch, Cameroon hit a 3, Australia got a wide, wide open 3 in the corner against the zone. Completely uncontested. Missed. Then Cameroon had a disjointed possession where they probably got away with a travel and a big ended up banking in a contested 3 late in the shot clock...

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

Not really - I have always felt that +/- in a single game doesn’t tell you much. It’s more of a stat that has value over long term. The sample size is too small. In this case, the reason he led the team in +/- is because he sat for 2 minutes in the fourth and Cameroon went on a quick 9-0 run...

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

To be honest, I was a little bit disappointed in Furphy in that one. Shooting is one thing - especially with tired legs - but he didn’t impact the game really at all in the second half and OT. Didn’t see the sort of intangibles or winning plays or “dog” in him that I would have liked to see in a...

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

You are both correct. He made nice running floaters in the third with BOTH hands. When there are lots of buckets, it’s hard to keep them all straight.

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

I think his floor game can improve from what he showed today too (leading to the 1 asst/4 tos). He had a few bad habits - at least today. He dribbled into bad spots on the floor a lot, hemming himself in the corner with nowhere to go, and threw some ill-advised crosscourt passes. But that can be...

Reibe and Furphy at FIBA U19s

Yeah - one wasn’t even a shot, just a leaning prayer at the end of the shot clock where he was just trying to get fouled or get it on the rim. And he also had one blocked and had another do 3 laps around the rim and come out.

    2025 NBA Draft Thread

I agree Kon was a better all around player. The trouble with the specific injury Liam had is that the high ankle is the mechanism that gets you on your toes and gives you your lift. You can recover from a rolled ankle a lot easier. Your shooting mechanics suffer with a high ankle that’s stiff or...

    NBA Finals: OKC v Indiana

It’s strange - but I remember so few Achilles injuries back in the day. Isiah Thomas (the Bad Boys one) and Dominique Wilkins had them at the end of their careers in the 90s. Then Kobe at the end of his career. I’m sure it probably happened to some others I don’t remember. But back then “load...

    OT: Coastal Carolina baseball

This is kinda nuts. They win a seemingly random national title once in 2016, and are now one win from the finals with a chance to do it again. Unlikely powerhouse. Still more work to do, but if they are able to pull it off, we could have a year with Vermont, Western Michigan, Cornell and Coastal...
