He also said he doesn’t care about NET and doesn’t want to see his starters get hurt. So why would he throw them back out there after they mentally cooled down?
Guarantee if we were up 25, he’d have let them play through it and send the message in film study. You don’t want to send starters back in if you don’t have to.
If he wanted to “send a message” he also could have put in the euro guys, Koroma and millender in place of the ones on the floor.
In my opinion it was more being safe - lead was down to 14, and if we turned the ball over in the backcourt a couple more times, it could have led to some anxiety.
Clingan 8-15-6 with two FTs to seal a 6-point win. Second half he wasn’t the pressure outlet nearly as much - but he could have pushed 10 assists/trip dub turf with a little better finishing off his passes.
Shot 3-9 (0-4 from 3). Stephen Adams was the match up and he was challenging him at the...
I remember that being a thing and Hurley even alluding to it in press conferences. Largely coincidental and/or unlucky. Sometimes you put the close game away before the one minute mark.
The strange nuance is that our one close win in a stretch of a couple years was Villanova - when Hurley was...
Interesting half for Clingan (0-8-5).
He’s 0-3 (two were tip attempts). Houston is swarming the perimeter to take advantage of the lack of PG, and Clingan has been the pressure valve around the free throw line a lot - and he’s been distributing or sometimes even been putting it on the floor and...
Tough loss for Cam and the Grizz. Blew a 21 point lead to the SGA-less Thunder. Cam had a late 3 rattle out with 1:30 to go that probably would have swung it.
He shot 2-8 for 7 points but ended up with a nice line of 11 assists and 0 turnovers - however, his athletic limitations shone through...
That was the Phil Knight championship game after we beat Alabama - just another one of those double-digit beatdowns out of conference we became known for. They all blend together.
Ones I thought of were already mentioned. Down 34-9 to UMass at the half. Down 24 to Pitt. Duke, Georgetown.
There was also a game against BC in the middle of our long streak against them that we won in double overtime when we down by 18 in the second half, I think Sheffer and Donyell both hit...
There have been a lot of fast breaks this year when we haven't passed. Not just Solo. It's been a bit of a team flaw. And Solo's vision/passing has never been great - he was always going to more in the Hawkins "sniper" role at the 2 for us than a Spencer "combo" role.
There's also the coaching...
Yep - around the 4 minute mark they did a few offense/defense situations on dead balls to put Stewart in on defense and Ball on offense. In addition to Ball not being great on the defensive end yesterday, the specific matchup of guarding Jones, Mela and Vaaks on the perimeter lent itself to...
This. We were actually going offense-defense for a little bit if possessions changed on dead balls. Then Stewart hit a 3, so he stayed with him on offense too.
Mullins took two at the end of the Kansas game when he was fouled on purpose after a defensive rebound. Everyone joked in the press conference how they knew he would make them since he never misses in practice in the "make them or run sprints" pressure drill.
I would really like to see more of...
