Yes, but to me there is a difference between an All-Conference type player and an All-American type player. Her very last year at UConn gave a glimpse of what she would look like as a pro, I think four years under Geno would’ve given her an even greater foundation.
A lot of these freshmen are transferring because they weren’t taking things seriously the first time, imo. Several choose based on money and “likes”, without considering academics, the campus environment, playing styles, or coaching types.
In recent years, I think Juhasz is the type of big he prefers. Moves up and down the floor well, can shoot, pass and defend. I think if she would’ve had a full 4 years at UConn, she would’ve been an AA type player.
I’m saying I think Hillmon would probably want a larger role after working on her game so much. She could very much be happy coming off the bench again, but she could definitely get a starting role and significant pay day from some of these teams.
I think it’s bigger than Griner. They are probably fine with her leaving, but I don’t see how Naz Hillmon and even Bri Jones fit into this. I believe Jones is coming off injury, but all of their posts occupy the same spaces. I think a stretch 4 would’ve been my move but they definitely aren’t done.
I actually think Chicago will benefit from this in the long run. There was definitely some locker room drama for the Sky, and I think they are taking steps to fix it.
I’m not sure Angel is what Atlanta really needed to vault themselves into winning a title, though. She fits what they want to...
I love when teams that play the right way are rewarded. Refs called this one much differently, and South Carolina’s inept offensive skill gets exposed in back to back nattys. Love it.
I wasn’t really a fan of the Paye hiring because she needed some head coaching experience elsewhere before taking the job, I always wished we could’ve landed La Rocque. I think there has been some recent issues with assistants as of late anyway, it’s something Betts mentioned in one of her features.
I actually think it’s a bit of both. I don’t think a lot of teams have fundamentally sound offensive players, and I don’t think officiating is great. Outside of the Final 4 teams, there are absolutely some other offensively inept teams that advanced to Sweet 16s and beyond. Combine that with...
I think in general this has been one of the worst tournaments in a long time. Most fans want to see offense, and this year has been incredibly bad in that aspect. I’m not sure if it’s officiating or skills deficiencies, but the women’s game hasn’t done itself any favors with a lot of these...
Defense is all fine and dandy, but the objective of the game is to put the ball through the basket. I said at the very beginning of the season on here that she and Shade in particular would have to be better or else the season wouldn’t end like they wanted. Shade showed something tonight, Arnold...
That’s fair I guess, but she seems to struggle against athleticism and the top teams next year are going to have that in bunches. Defensively, I just don’t think she’ll be able to stay in front of anybody in games like tonight. With Fudd gone, who is left to create off the dribble?
