The basketball championships were somewhat anticlimatic in a way. You win tournament games and are all excited for the next opponent five times. Then you win the sixth and there is no more games to get excited about. You go through withdrawal.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who only come for the tailgate. They tailgate then go home. I asked some people at one of our combined tailgates where they were sitting. They stated they were just there for the tailgate then going home.

I think it helped 85 Villanova that they had lost to Georgetown a couple times already that season. I saw an interview where Ewing admitted that they were complacent and assumed they would win. He said they didn't have the same defensive intensity they had the rest of the season.
