Cal didn't "lose" Suarez....she graduated and chose to move on. There IS a difference. Beyond that, I think Charmin very much likes Cal and wouldn't leap across the Bay regardless. It's a challenging job, given finances, faciltities, etc...but she's a great fit and I appreciate the teams...
And Lulu was amazing, scoring 20 of Cal's 28 4th quarter points. 4th quarter surge pushes Cal WBB past Florida State
Her ACC stats:
Minutes/game: 2nd (38.4)
Points/game: 8th (16.0)
Assists/game: 8th (4.5)
Free throw%: 2nd (92.5%)
Three pointers/game: 1st (3.1)
Meanwhile I am proud of...
It's been fun watching Gisella Maul finally at full speed and become a go to player for the Bears. She scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, collected her third double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-tying 13 rebounds in Cal's win over GT. She was a top recruit for Texas...
Cal beat Stanford (once) and ND and took Syracuse to triple OT before losing....we'll see how they do, but the toughest part of the schedule is behind them... (now down 2 starters to injury) but maybe they should be bumped up a bit eh?
They did have a lot of fouls, but many took place near game's end too....as they tried to winnow down Cal's stubbon 10-sh point lead during the game's closing minutes. (edited to add) At the very end, 4 of 5 on the court had 4 fouls and so left the final fouling to #2 who only had a...
This was the first win and I enjoyed the game very much. One of our starters got injured (ankle) during the game (frosh Taylor Barnes) and our starting point guard has been out for a few weeks so Sunday's game will be a challenge, but I'll take this win and appreciate it. ND is a great program...
Slightly OT, but good news nonetheless for female athletes (and their fans) regarding more research being done on injuries that impact female athletes in particular, like the dreaded ACL. Link to full story on KQED
Here's an excerpt:
Well I do cut some slack to grad transfers like Suarez. She moved to Cal after she left school (Tenn) entirely for a bit when her mother was ill (died from breast cancer). She came back for two years at Cal, got. her degree and then moved on. I don't quite judge that in the same way. I wish...
I gotta say, I really noticed that too. Meanwhile coach Nakase had drawn up a great defensive plan to thwart her shooting skills and I enjoyed it very much. She's so good... 45 bench points btw! And yes, the wave WAS the bomb. Ballhalla is amazing.
