Trade 2 minor league pitchers for him. Don't know if he has much left in the tank but maybe a move to NY will give him a boost.

Edit: And I apparently can't spell trade.

not bad this is basically a 2 month rental, supposedly Seattle is paying 4.5 mill of Ichiro's 17 mill contract, we gave up 2 scrub pitchers for him. Yankees are trying to cut payroll and get better at the same time so its a good move, the Yankees dont need a star in their just a guy with speed who can get on base.

I like the move for the Yankees. When was the last time the trade partner has kicked in money for the Yankees?

Great trade - gave up two prospects who didn't figure in their future, got some $ from Seattle, and he'll be a free agent, so no future obligations if it doesn't work out. Gives them the speed and defense they lost with Gardner.

Yes, every Yankee fan has to be happy with this move. Really fills a need with Gardner out for the season.. Where does he bat? My vote would be second and move Granderson down to 6 or 7, basically Swisher's spot.

Should be an interesting game in Seattle tonight when he takes the field in a Yankee uniform.

You gotta figure this puts a hop in Ichiro's step the rest of the way. Big Asian following in NYC, his legit shot at a World Series. GREAT move.

Ichiro's really a bottom of the order guy at this point. Love the deal though for speed/defense/resting the platoon other old guys.

He is not the offensive Ichiro of the past but he can still run, throw and and play D. He is a good pickup for the Yankees.

It's a great trade for the Yankees.

They gave up nothing, they're paying him essentially nothing and the upside is terrific.

If he's 2/3rds of the player he was, it's a steal. Even if he isn't, the Yanks have upgraded their defense and added some speed on the bases. No downsides at all here.

Exactly. They don't need him to be Ichiro of six years ago, they just need him to be Brett Gardner.
