Desmond Conner @desmondconner @jerrywilson27 it's my understanding that the people who should know have never heard of him. This was the response I received. I take it as the school is not aware of him or him coming aboard. Guess we'll have to wait and see on this episode of as the Boose turns! (Sorry couldn't help myself.)
This is the weirdest thing that I have ever heard of when it comes to college football recruiting. Most times, people are wondering is someone is going to accept a scholarship that they have been presented with, and in this case, it sounds like the kid is saying, "Hey, give me a scholarship!" Either that, or maybe his plan is to walk on. Who knows. Weird, though...
I had mentioned to Des about "walk on maybe" but nothing specific in the reply. I'm thinking that maybe the coaches can't comment on him until he is enrolled which wouldn't be until the fall even if he is a walk on or preferred walk on. I'm hoping thats the case with him because the kid has talent we could definately find room for.
Even so, Des probably asked the question in such a way where the coaches could simply confirm via yes or no without having to mention the recruit by name.
Boose played in the San Diego all star game last night. Looks like he scored a TD as a WR. What's better than talking about mystery boose on a saturday night?
yeah probably so, it's just strange seeing that the kid himself has said he's coming, like I said I think we'll have to wait and see
Boose had 64 yard TD in all star game http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jul/13/south-cashes-in-on-north-flag/
That quote is so funny it makes me think he's going to have some success here or at least be a real character. I like honesty especially if there's some talent to go with it. Go for it Shawn Boose and show the doubters you can win here! A little strikethrough edit in case he's not actually on board yet.
I was at the game, he broke atleast 3 kids ankles on the play. He was the best player on the field in the game. My uncle coached Shawwn in HS, he isn't the biggest kid probably realistically 5'9 180 but he is a spectacular athlete who is fun to watch, he reminded me of a smaller Kenny Tinney he can change direction on a dime, runs a legit 4.4 and can make people miss!
Is he coming? Offered? Walk-on? Paper-work in process? Was he committed to Oregon State? Fresno State? Does he want to climb K2? The Boneyard loves a good mystery, but even Scooby sees closure.
Is his name Shawn or Shawwn? He looks like a terrific player on his highlight videos but his recorded 40 times and track numbers weren't so good. If he could run a 4.4 you'd think he'd have 20 offers. In any case UConn would be a great landing place for him, we've taken athletic QBs in the past and turned them into WRs. Regardless of where he ends up, I'll root for him. I'd love to see him come here and succeed. But it's hard to get a 2012 scholarship so late in the year, as far as I know all the scholarships are taken. Is it possible Shawn is a backup in case Bryce McNeal isn't admitted?
His rivals profile says he runs a 4.5. Maybe that other 40 time was incorrect. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Shawn-Boose-101128
Apparently when Boose said to the U-T that he was going to play FOR Connecticut, what he really meant to say is that he was going to play IN Connecticut. Those pesky prepositions can cause so much trouble. Boose is now on the sprint football team at Post University. http://www.posteagles.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6854&path=sprtftb
Wow, good find. To be honest I didn't know Post University existed, and I didn't know sprint football existed. I hope it works out well for him.
I wish the young man well but, aside from this thread, don't remember his name or that he was ever on our commit list.
