I know Diarra may not be exactly as good as Newton is, but he does bring a lot of energy when he plays. His defensive skills are better then Newton and to me, what do you have to lose at this point? To be blunt as well, it's not like Newton has been putting up 15 to 20 points a game every night.

I wouldn't want it to happen just yet. I think he's more of a situational guy. That said, I wish Hurley would plug him in sooner when it's clear we need a change of pace. DH doesn't like to pull starters, even when we're up 40 pts with 4 minutes to go.

I wouldn't be against it. I also don't know if any guard has played well enough to warrant a change. I'd have to base it on practice performance.

Doesn’t make a different if we’re going to have the same issues

It really depends if he can control his turnovers. If he can, it will make a big difference in his effectiveness. The staff needs to push getting to the hoop and whoever can, should play more.

Has to be based on how they’re playing in game. Game to game

for it. wouldnt address our offensive issues but would improve our perimeter D, hopefully resulting in a net positive outcome. this is what i'd like to see eventually:

Diarra (20) Newton (20)
Hawk (25) Joey (15)
Jackson (25) Alleyne (15)
Karaban (25) Samson (10) Sanogo (5)
Sanogo (20) Clingan (20)

25- Hawk, AJ, Karaban, Sanogo
20- Diarra, Newton, Clingan
15- Joey, Alleyne
10- Samson

I thought him transferring here was the point of that? I don't think he left a&M to be a bench warmer.

I wouldn't mind but then that means we would only have Hawkins and Karaban to hit outside shots but since Alleyne is in a shooting slump why not.

I wouldn’t mind. I think after a couple of starts he would begin to tighten things up.

Our starters don’t have an “offense” problem, they have an energy problem. I’m for it. It also sends a message. I might even start Clingan over sanogo next game. Shake it up. If Newton and Sanoho are championship level players they’ll rise to the occasion

I would start Joey. Let Jackson bring it up, space the floor with three shooters.

Either that or give newton a redbull. He looks like he’s sleepwalking sometimes

In my opinion, Diarra's effectiveness recently has come partially from being able to come off the bench. He comes in and gives opposing guards absolute fits by playing super high-energy defense. I don't think that's sustainable if he's playing 25 minutes a night.

He has been doing a lot better job limiting turnovers, but we still need to see a bit more from him on the offensive side. He's shooting 19% from three on the year and hasn't had much success anywhere else either

I prefer Diarra as an energy spark plug off the bench. If your gameplan is to have Sanogo be your first option, having 2 non shooters isn’t a good idea. And if our issues with Newton is that he isn’t driving, scoring, or making enough free throws…Diarra is quite literally the only worse fit on our team

Newton as a scoring 6th man is interesting. But I’d prefer AJax starting at PG over Diarra

I would like to see Joey C. get a start. I agree I'd like to see Sanogo sit, even just until the first media timeout and see if it lights a fire under Sanogo.
It's not all on Sanogo and Newton. Guys have to move through the offense like they were earlier in the year.

I wouldn't mind. I'd like to see the starting 5 shaken up a bit, even if its temporary and to light a fire.

Given Newton a chance; he can actually get to spots on the floor. He just needs to be given more freedom. He'll be able to better run the offense too as they mesh more.

Agree with those who say Newton's defense is a big problem. That's the main concern.
