Looking over season stats and am very happy with the key contributions of the freshman class, specifically the hitting of Siena (.360), Daniello (.288) and Melley (.286). This bodes well not only this year but the future. Also impressed with Ryan Moore's performance. Has a 1 - 0 record and a save. Pitching 8 innings without giving up a run, and 8 k's. Glad he got through the soreness in his shoulder.

Did not play exceptionally well this weekend ,but we got 2 of 3 which is almost always acceptable. Pitching has been overall very good. Just seems like we shoot ourselves in the foot sometimes with the base running decisions. Play a poor Hartford team Tuesday then have 3 against Seton hall. SH is 8 - 12 and lost 2 of 3 at Notre Dame this weekend. All 3 games competitive ( winning 4-3, and losing 2 games by the same 3 -2 score). Pitt and USF are 3 - 0 in BE play ,so we are 1 game behind. Not to be greedy, but even though we are 13 -7 it seems like we have not played our best ball yet.

I know it is still early and the RPI is probably still weeks away from given an accurate ranking, but there are some interesting rankings for the BE.

Notre Dame ( 14 - 6 ) RPI of 5
Rutgers ( 8 - 11 ) RPI of 8
UConn ( 13 - 7 ) RPI of 16
UL ( 19 - 4 ) RPI of 53

For what it is worth we play the above 3 teams in the last 3 BE series of the year.

Don't know much about game except that Feehan pitched well. This is a game that is a must win. Not that the win helps you so much, but that a loss is devastating. Off to SH this weekend.

This team is confusing. We have beaten ranked Indiana, Sam Houston State (twice), College of Charleston, Ohio State, a really good Troy team, and Texas Tech. TTU and SHSU in particular have accumulated some terrific wins this year. Yet, we cannot beat Purdue (Who Ohio State destroyed three times on the road) and only beat Presbytarian once.

This team has excellent hitting, pitching, AND defense. I honestly believe we should be better than 14-7 right now, but baserunning errors have killed us in literally almost every game we have played this year. Still, I feel we are on track for a regional.

Agree with your above statement. It seems to me that we have not played our best baseball as of yet. So being 14 - 7 at this point is pretty good. At this pace we should be a tourney team.

While I am one of those who have voiced my aggravation at the base running adventures, I'm very optimistic at the prospects of this team. The offense is potent and is averaging over 6 runs a game. The offense may be a little inconsistent, but it is also very productive, no matter how we factor in the running mistakes. Even more important, the team ERA after the Hartford game is 2.79. That is really outstanding, a terrific stat. If UConn continues to this type of pitching and the fielding continues to be solid, the Huskies will make the NCAA's.

Tough losing first 2 in SHU series. Need to win tomorrow to get back on track. having cross go makes me optimistic, but we need to start hitting.

Again not able to follow game, but we did get a much needed win. Either the SHU pitchers were much better than I had thought or we are in a hitting slump.

Good morning everyone and happy Easter to all. After all the games yesterday our RPI is up to 26 and we are tied for 5th in the BE with a 3-3 record. Looking over the next 12 games, I think we need to go a minimum of 9 - 3. We have 6 NE games ( Fairfied, Quin, Yale, BC, Brown and Northeastern ) . The best team by far of those 6 is Northeastern. Looking for 6 -0, but I would settle for 5 - 1. These are big games for those schools, beating UConn would be a feather in their cap. The 6 games against BE teams are 3 at home vs St. Johns ( 10 - 15 ) and 3 at Villanova (6 - 18 ). Looking for 5 -1 but would settle for 4 - 2.

This is an important stretch for the team. If we go 9 - 3, that would bring our record to 24 - 12 (.667 winning % ) which is my unofficial goal for the team. I am going to add a item to my graph to keep track of the next 12 games.

Horrible loss today. Need to bounce back with a win tomorrow. The little I listened to , they squandered opportunities. In the top of 9th, Daniello gets tagged off at second because he did not call time out before getting off the bag. That is inexcusable. Would have been second and third 1 out, instead it was man on third 2 outs and they don't score. Boy they keep making base-running errors over and over again.

Think it was McDonald not Daniello (think he was @ 3rd) but point on!

Huskymedic you are probably correct. I realize I am not at games and only listening on radio so I don't know the exact situation. But even though I agree ( especially at the college level ) that you should be aggressive on the base paths, it seems like we make way to many judgement mistakes ( getting picked off, trying to stretch hits at the wrong time, not calling timeout before getting off a base ). I always made the argument that the aggressiveness would win more games for us than lose, and it probably still does. But boy is it frustrating sometimes.

I had the WHUS firing on computer... Thought it was a bull$hit call. Tough not seeing it in person but how many times a year does that get called. The WHUS announcer even made a reference that it looked like the BC infielder and Ump were "in cahoots". Lesson learned I'm sure.

This loss really hurts NCAA hopes. BC was 3-22 and I know they play in the ACC and so the record may be due to the competition but if we can't beat them where does that stack us up against the NCAA caliber team. Too many missed opportunities yesterday. The seniors on this team need to step up and start being more productive. I believe the big issue is lack of patience at the plate. Far too much first pitch swinging and I know some will say you get the best pitches on the first pitch but if you look at the percentages it's not working, especially if the other team knows that's your philosophy. Right now this team is not going to the Tourney and unless the seniors step up and start being more productive they are not going. What has happened to Feehan?

The only thing you need to put to track post season for us now is Win the Big East Tourney. Last 2 days we played teams with an overall record of 7-37 and we get outscored 22-9 in those 2 games. We were lucky on Monday to not have a tie with Quinnipiac or it could have been even worse.

Wow, lost 15 - 5 to a Yale team that has an RPI of 286. I actually was looking forward to this 12 game stretch but it has started off as a disaster. Lucky to even win the 1 game against Quinnipiac. I am going to continue to update above chart, but I really hope we can turn this around. Need a sweep this weekend but not incredibly optimistic with the way we are playing.

Came back nicely this weekend to win the last 2 games ( and take series ) from St.John's. Hopefully this gets us on the right track. A little worried about Ferriter ( .233 ) and LJ ( down to .303 ). Need these 2 to lead our lineup. I am hoping they turn it around soon. Pitching was good again this weekend, even in a loss Cross pitched well. Kudos to Tabakman today, pitched a great 4 plus innings. Supposedly Brian Ward (per Penders) has been diagnosed with Mono. But he still pitched today. Need to win against Northeastern and Brown, before we take on Villanova. Can not afford to lose any more New England region games, those losses hurt to much.
