The irony, Rutgers was added to the BigEast to beef up football in 1991. All the schools playing football in 1991 are now gone aside from Temple which has an odd BigEast history. If the people in charge knew then what we know now...

They likely knew. The Metro Conference super conference proposal has forever changed the conference alignment scene. And it began very soon after that proposal. Started the very next year.

Just a joke. Not added based on merit, added based on geography. What a joke

Why is it a joke? Their fans never claimed they deserved an invite based on merit, but rather based on eyeballs. Even if they were wrong the B1G believes it. Case closed, jokes on us especially if we don't get the ACC INVITE.

It's a joke because if things were rational, conference additions would be made based on merit. They bring nothing to the table, nothing yet get a lucrative invite to the Big 10, the premiere conference in America. That's why it's a joke

Add in the fact that the big boys know they can count on beating them regularly, so it doesn't make their path to a championship any more difficult and this conference realignment becomes exponentially more frustrating.

I wonder how anyone can really claim to know how to rank schools in college football. Inter conference games between the "elite" schools is very limited. Every week the top ranked schools get beat.

I look at ND at #1 and wonder how Pitt let them off the hook. Does anyone really think ND is significantly better than Rutgers or Louisville this year? And the B1G is badly overrated this year.

Two games really hurt the Big East this year in terms of voter perception. Kent State beating Rutgers and Pitt choking to ND after leading 20 - 6 in the 3rd quarter.
