Good read. Starting to finally feel it after a long and turbulent college football off season.

"It's scary all the weapons we have," Whitmer said. "I'm really thankful for the opportunity."

i can't remember ever being as excited for our offense as i am right now

I remember a few years back when Zach Fraser raved about our offense... He was a bit overzealous in his predictions (as far as putting points on the board ), but we still ended up in a BCS bowl game...

I'm cautiously optomistic about our O since we do have a few new pieces... but some decent new pieces ( upgrades at QB and RB ).. As long as we MANAGE the game well on offense we'll be really good... We should've been a bowl team last year , but that's awould've ( should've could've).. We'll be bowling (hopefully BCS level) this season. No question...

Great article. I hope the kid can live up to his dreams and get us into the BCS bowl. He is the difference this year between sitting at home or go bowling. I really hope we don't see Johnny MAC on the field unless it is for mop up duties.

Quick question, name the last four UConn QB's to throw 4 TD's in a single game.

I'll go with Orlovsky, DeGennaro, Stafford, and....and....and...and.....Lorenzen?

Well, technically - 4 in a gameby different QB's, and only 4 tds, and only 4 looks like this.

McEntee 2011
Hernandez 2006
Orlovsky 2004
Tracey 2000

Hoffman 1998 vs. UMass - threw 4 TD's.

Orlovsky threw 5 in a game three times b/w 2003-2004.

Going back to Stafford - he did it four times b/w 1996-1998, and Degenarro did it twice in 1989-1990.

We actually have had a passing game at UConn except for a short period of time in the Big East conference.

I'd like to see Whitmer make the record books Thursday. Would be a nice way to kickoff the season.

Very easy to forget the 4 thrown by McEntee last year but no excuse for missing the Pitt game with DJ.

People forget that as much as McEntee looked (and played) like a QB that was in a brand new system, and hadn't seen live action for a number of years since high school, he took a TON of lumps in growing pains from teh guys in front and around him, and for every bonehead play, there were really good ones. The pass he dropped in to Kashif on the deep out, on the road in Morgantown, in the 3rd quarter as we were driving deep to go for the go ahead TD....was equally as beautiful, as the run and fumble that stopped the drive a few moments later was ugly.

He had a season that was full fo stuff like that.

I couldn't ask for a better senior leader at the most important #2 spot on the roster.

As for Whitmer. If you ask coach P, it's a "show me" kind of game. And it's show time.
