Minn, N'western, and Ohio St are the only unbeatens.

I think they are going to fall prey to the same criticism as the BE.
Having some really good teams without any true standout gives the impression of a weak conference.
If they start beating each other up that will be the case. Right now, looks like that is a good possibility as nobody seems to be unbeatable.

Call it the BE Syndrome...

The Big 10 will never have the credibility issues of the Big East, and will never get called out on anything. They may have the occasional down year, but overall they're usually battling the Big 12 for second best conference top to bottom out there. I wish the BE had the Big 10's problems.

The reality is that, despite the nice facilities and the tradition, the B1G just isn't that good and hasn't been for a while. Ohio State has been holding it down, mainly because they're the only state with a critical mass of local talent. Pennsylvania isn't bad, but it's not like the southern schools or Cali. Once programs like USC, Texas, and the power schools in the SEC started recruiting well again, all of these schools that recruit "nationally" like Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, etc., fell off hardcore. Add the dumpster fire that is Penn State and the fact that schools like Iowa, Sparty, and Wisconsin have always relied on a system rather than lots of elite talent, and what are you left with? A bunch of depressing rust belt states with crappy weather that no one wants to spend their college years in when they could be somewhere warmer with a more robust economy. And hotter chicks.

They have been getting called out routinely since Ohio State got curbstomped in consecutive NC games.

Texas doesn't recruit nationally. That's been one of their biggest problems over the last two years.
