What the stats say: Offense

Let's see how the the offensive stats rank and what they tell us about this season. 2015 stats are in ( ). These are the FBS rankings of 128 schools.

Scoring offense: 109th (121st)
Total offense: 102nd (123rd)
Rushing offense: 98th (114th)
Passing offense: 80th (103rd)
3rd down conversion offense: 65th (116th)
4th down conversion offense: 20th (121st)
Red zone offense: 101st (98th)
Tackles for a loss allowed: 116th (115th)
Sacks allowed: 81st (107th)
Turnovers lost: 58th (25th)
Passes Intercepted: 25th (41st)

The offense seems to improved somewhat over last year, especially on 3rd and 4th down conversions. Red zone offense continues to disappoint. Although the sacks allowed are down, I think that has to do with Shirreffs running when he gets nervous in the pocket which results in fewer sacks.

When you look at what UConn is trying to do on offense, the rushing stats stand out as the running game is still troubled. Looking at the sacks, the tackles for a loss, and the poor rushing stats, it still appears that the OL is a problem.

To the naked eye, the offense is better. It gets bogged down the closer we get to the endzone.
