It's frustrating that the Big East get's crapped on by every media outlet as not having quality fb (see ESPN's AA for a good example). Then WVU leaves for the Big12 and is amongst the discussions about having a shot to win conference against the likes of Texas and Oklahoma....

How does that happen? Did the program change overnight?

I believe WVU was our flagship football program in the BE. but they hardly dominated such that I would think they'll now compete with Texas and OK each year.

So now they've left the BE, and suddenly they are a top 10 program? And what does it say about the Big East if they do win the Big12 against Texas and OK?

WVU has a shot because no one in the Big 12 plays defense. It's all about running up the score and looking better than you are. I feel the biggest thing overlooked in the BE is the defenses. In just Yards Per Game look at how the conference breaks down. So yeah, WVU has a shot in the Big 12 since the defenses they will face will be atrocious.

the great thing is, unlike a lot of things related to college football, this is going to be answered on the field.
If WVU does well it should say a lot about the Big East. Should they win the Big12, then that is a huge statement for the Big East (probably used by the media more as a knock against the Big12 than credit to Big East).
Even though I hate the way they left, I am rooting for them.

WVU fans are acting like their school is Texas rather than the easiest football program to pry lose from a BCS conference. There was a time I would have rooted for their continued success, but now I want their toothless mouths kicked in.

If you look at the performance of the teams that have left the Big East for the ACC, BC, Miami and VaTech, they have dominated the ACC since their arrival. Admittedly VPI has been the "prize" but since 2004, VPI beat Miami on the final weekend to win the ACC title. But since 2005 there has been only 1 ACC Championship game without a former Big East team, the Wake-Georgia Tech game in 2006. Twice 2 former Big East teams, BC and VPI have played each other. I suspect that Pitt will also compete once they get there. West Virginia is being touted as a competitor in the B-12...and I suspect they will be...unfortunately play on the field doesn't account for as much as "tradition" in the sports desk in college football.
