To think that we had Hogan as our President and Hathaway as our AD for a few year period...it is amazing that the school and Athetic Department are still in existance!;)

So fortunate to have Herbst in place....next up is Manuel and we'll see how he does.

But their predecessors were train wrecks

I saw Pres. Herbst @ Bradley airport on tuesday morning as we were both headed out on flights. Very nice lady. BTW, quite attractive as well. I say UCONN traded up when Pres. Herbst came here.

Was he the asshat we had to build a mansion for because his wife complained of mold allergies?

Not sure, but he is the asshat that gave Hathaway that ridiculous contract.

We didn't build a house for him...but we "leased" one...for a VERY significant amount of $$$...the faculty held a vote of No-Confidence in him not too long ago. It was just a matter of time for this.

Didn't he also spend a couple hundred k on cardboard cutouts of himself? Just seemed out of touch and apparently did nothing to distinguish himself at either University.

Manuel was being looked at as a serious candidate for Michigans AD a few years ago. He worked under UM AD for while in important roles. Not to mention he played FB there. We still have big 10 ties.

His problem was that he took the job as the state was trying to bring the U Illinois system under one roof, with all U.s reporting to him. This would take away autonomy from UI and fold it in with UIC. It was a highly unpopular idea, and it's the reason he had so much trouble.

Didn't Hogan spend like 10 grand on a rug for his office?

Could you elaborate further on this. If all U's reported to him why would UIC be different? Thanks.

UI-Chicago and UI-Champlain would report to him. Both of them. UIC typically refers to Chicago while Champlain is UI. Hogan instituted this change, no doubt under the express interests of the politicians in Illinois. The faculty were absolutely right to fight against it because there is no end to how badly the whole system can get screwed up with the way they were going.

I thought it was like $80k-$100k on the university donated home that he only occupied for ~ one year.
