I wanted the National Championship trophy to be named after him. I guess that ship has sailed, but this isn't bad though, in fact, very nice. I'm sure Dawn will support this as she is a straight shooter and in favor of giving credit where credit is due. Congratulations Geno, make sure you don't retire until you get a minimum of 1300 wins.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Wednesday that it will name its annual women's national coach of the year award after UConn's Geno Auriemma.

Hmmmmm......this makes up for being shut out on the voting for coaching job awards this year. If you ask me, what he did deserves COY honors......the dramatic fruits of his/staff's toils didn't show itself until the run to the FF.

Paige won every possible awards in her freshman year, 2020-2021, but not Dawn Staley award? The award gave to Clark.
