Cosmos took NYCFC down last year in PKs. Hope a 2nd tier team can crash the CL this time around

That was a great game too. All these games should be watchable on YouTube.

I was at Hofstra stadium for it. Wild night. It was tough to identify the (then) USMNT player - Mix

Cosmos went down early in regulation, OT then the shootout and still took it

MLS teams should start in the Round of 64, and it should be unseeded (they should be able to play each other right away). If the format stays the same for next year, only thirteen non-MLS clubs will survive until the Round of 32; that is too few (especially considering almost all of them will be NASL clubs, leaving almost no room for clubs in the 3rd-tier or lower). Also, I think it would be awesome if all NCAA schools (D-1, D-2, and D-3) as well as all HS state champs were allowed to participate in the qualifying rounds with a chance to rub up against the big boys. It truly would be a cup of dreams. Japan does this, and in either 2002 or 2003, a high school team survived multiple qualifying rounds and then took the best professional club in the country to penalties in the Round of 32. Talk about a story.

Only result of note was in my opinion was the Cosmos beating NYCFC again. The Strikers also defeated DC United to get to the next round.

Yup... Strikers over DC United on PK's; NYCFC is the 3rd best team in metro NY; It took Chicago PK's to beat Indy Eleven, and Dallas PK's to beat OKC Energy;

LA Galaxy v La Maquina
Philadelphia Union v Harrisburg City
D.C. United v Ft Lauderdale Strikers
Columbus Crew
v T.B. Rowdies
Chicago Fire v Indy Eleven
Minnesota United v Sporting KC
FC Dallas
v Oklahoma City Energy
Houston Dynamo v San Antonio FC
Colorado Rapids v Colorado Springs Switchbacks
Seattle Sounders v Kitsap Pumas
Portland Timbers v San Jose Earthquakes
New York Cosmos v New York City FC
Rochester Rhinos v New York Red Bulls
Jacksonville Armada v Orlando City
Real Salt Lake
v Wilmington Hammerheads
Carolina Railhawks v New England Revolution

So the round of 16 is 14 MLS clubs and the NASL's NY Cosmos and Fort Lauderdale Strikers (my 2 favorite NASL teams when I was a kid)
