UConn Student Biking 3,500 Miles for Charity

It’s that time of year again. In the coming month thousands of students will arrive at the University of Connecticut for the fall semester. Some will come on planes, others on-board trains, and by automobiles. For Medicine student Emily Wilkins, she will be arriving on her bicycle.

Emily will arrive at the UConn Health campus on Friday July 29 around 7 p.m. When she arrives, she will have covered 3,500 miles after starting her journey in Seattle, WA.

Departing on June 8, she started in a group with several members of the university’s medical student team. However, she remains the only injury free biker and will arrive in Farmington at John Dempsey Hospital’s new tower.

Her arrival will complete the 11th annual Coast to Coast for a cause bicycle ride by UConn medical students. The tradition began in 2006 when two first year medical students pedaled home to San Francisco to raise money for leukemia research.
