At 7-15, Napheesa is in a slump. :)

Another huge game for Napheesa Collier Monday, this time against the #1 ranked small school in St. Louis. IW came in #2.

36 points (13-20 fg/ 9-11 ft), 18 rebounds, 3 blocks

Man these young ladies are a beast

“It’s relieved my stress outside of basketball,” Irwin said. “I’m not worried about who I need to be calling or speaking to anymore. It’s nice just knowing where I am going to be in two years and I couldn’t be happy."

Uh, John... let's review that last sentence. I'm guessing she said she "couldn't be happier." I could be wrong, but I think some of the writers are using voice dictation software. Like runaway spell checkers, these things can create their own brand of chaos.

But it was a good article about a young woman who appears to be really well grounded. That she understands what a UConn practice is and welcomes it says a lot.

I have seen Lou, and she has grown since last year. I would say closer to 6'4" than 6'3".

I wonder if her upside is Delle Donne. That would be something!

Andra Espinosa-Hunter scored 15 points in a Blair win Wednesday, and then 11 more in a tight Blair victory over a quality opponent last night (1/22).

Kyla Irwin scored 12 points in a rout Tuesday.

How do you think their frames differ?
Lou has a thinner frame, from what I have seen live of her and one time live of EDD in a game vs the LA Sparks, or that I remember during EDD's days at Delaware. I dont want to say that EDD is thick(I would never say that about any girl/women) but there is more "flesh" to her than KLS.
However, Lou is not fragile. Mater Dei has a great weight training program and good trainers and Lou appears to be stronger than during her freshman year when she was at Edison HS in Huntington Beach. Obviously growing and training has helped.

Interesting. I'd love to see them side by side. Every time I see Elena, I think she needs more bulk and strength. Lou never looks thinner than Elena to me. She's younger, so she probably lacks the strength, but I thought their bodies were roughly similar, with Elena perhaps being the thinner of the two.

Lou's not quite rail thin but close.

I've always thought the player Della Donne most resembled in terms of game type and skills is Dirk Nowitzki. Think Lou's a bit different but similarities do exist.

To me KLS looks like she needs to beef up in the upper body/shoulders area. But, like Kaleena said, pay attention to the results, not the looks. Results are spectacular so far.

Napheesa Collier had 19 points and 5 steals in a tough win, but fouled out with 6 minutes remaining.

Slu: your comparison of EDD and Dirk echoes one made by Himself [Geno].

Ah, I didn't know that. I've heard Stewie compared to Dirk before but I think Della Donne is more apt.

Yeah, Elena and Dirk. That comparison has been around for years--very tall, great shooters, primarily finesse players.

Also on Saturday (1/24) Katie Lou Samuelson scored 31 in a 61-47 Mater Dei win.
