Is Kyla looking trimmer? With DJB gone, Kyla will have lots of opportunity next year.

All three UConn signees, Crystal Dangerield, Kyla Irwin, and Molly Bent, are McDonald's All-American Game nominees. There are also six Connecticut high girls' basketball players on the list - Weaver's Shaquana Edwards, Desiree Elmore of Capital Prep, Stamford's Tiana England, Avon's Abby Laszewski, Torrington's Brie Pergola and Abbie Wolf of Greenwich.

And, one of the two Arizona boys nominated for the game is Andrew Ekmark out of Phoenix Country Day School, the brother of UConn's Courtney Ekmark.

Though she was nominated, Molly Bent I'm pretty sure is ineligible to be selected to the game due to her being a fifth year high school player. She repeated her sophomore year when she transferred to Tabor. This will also take South Carolina commit Araion Bradshaw out of the running as well. This happens a lot on the mens side as many top players come from the New England Prep schools and can't play in the McDonalds game because almost all of them repeat a year of high school when they transfer. Jalen Adams on the mens team at UConn is a perfect example. The last section of the link below clarifies the rule.

Premier Basketball Report on Dangerfield's recent performance at the Sandra Meadows Classic:

2016 UCONN commit Crystal Dangerfield led Blackman High School (TN) to the championship game in impressive fashion. At only 5’5”, Dangerfield can do it all; she is an elite athlete who has no problem either blowing by defenders or pulling up from the elbow with a pure jump shot off the dribble. She is a deadly three-point shooter if left open, although she struggled mightily from the three in the championship game. Dangerfield’s ball handling and overall understanding of the game make her a near impossible cover for defenders at times. She complements her vast offensive array with a dogged on-ball pressure defensive approach. Dangerfield has huge shoes to fill at UCONN, but has the ability and game to do so.

So Slu, what's your sense? Is she a 5-star?

Not sure about stars, but I think she'll be a nice player. Very smooth stroke, solid athlete, can handle the ball, seems to have some intangibles. More of a complimentary piece than a star I'm guessing, but a contributor.

KAIZEN and SLU: kinda like "Grand Old Opry" on here tonight, what with KAIZEN singing and you providing the instrumental. On serious note (he said), your pieces (he said again) on here, SLU, are very much appreciated in this bandstand.
