Just restarting a recent thread with a name that matches the subject a bit better:

One underrated nugget one can glean is that Susi will get some extra time catching Cate, Rivera, and Domnarski. Seeing as he will continue to be the primary catcher, bolstering his knowledge of their repertoire and ability to handle each of them on the mound will pay off, especially since Wills is on track to start Saturdays and Rivera and Domnarski look like they will be key pieces of next year's bullpen.

Whoops. I have no idea why I inserted Wills in there. I meant to say that Cate is on track to start Fridays.

My wife was reading The New London Day this morning, and informed me that Aaron Hill had the game winning hit in yesterday's Mystic Schooner game. And yes, Hill is showing up on Mystic's online roster now. So this is Hill's third summer season with the Schooners, a team that always has several Huskies on its roster every summer.

Good to see LeFevre throwing out a would be base stealer, even if it had to be Willy Yahn.

I knew Aaron Hill was playing for his third straight summer with the Mystic Schooners. Until I read this feature that appeared in the New London Day, I was unaware that this was Doug Domnarski's third summer with the Schooners as well.

One thing UConn baseball has done consistently in recent years on its website is provide a list of where various Huskies are playing in the various summer college baseball leagues. Usually this is done sometime between the end of the UConn season and mid June. However, we are now into early July, the summer college season is about at its midpoint, and nothing has yet appeared on the UConn athletics website. It's about time that it did show up.

How many of our incoming freshman are playing in summer leagues? Who are they and how have they done? It'd be nice to get a preview of what we have coming in.

Well, there are three incoming freshmen mentioned previously in this thread that were found to be playing in summer collegiate leagues, and they are labeled as UConn commits (excepting Matt Hearn, who was a JUCO commit who ended up signing with the Atlanta Braves). There could be others in summer collegiate leagues that haven't been found, as there are a lot of leagues and teams spread across the country. Also, I know Chris Winkel is playing in American Legion ball, so there are other summer baseball options for the incoming freshmen. College players can be found in Legion ball as well. For instance, after his freshman year at UConn Troy Stefanski played on his local Legion team in southeastern Connecticut.

Considering how well Aaron Hill has done with the bat in his three summers with Mystic, my wife has suggested half jokingly several times this summer that he might want to consider using a wooden bat for his final season at UConn.

It's getting late in the summer college league seasons, but here's another one:

Victor RailRiders (Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League) - Keith Krueger

Surprised to find Krueger in a league based in upstate New York, I figured he'd be playing in out west somewhere.

The Norwich Bulletin ran a feature today on Aaron Hill, playing locally this summer with the Mystic Schooners. Among other things, the story mentions that Hill is the first player in the history of the New England Collegiate Baseball League to play in three All-Star games with the same team. The article also talks about how Hill hits so well in the summer leagues and his extended slumps while playing at UConn, and how he is finally making adjustments to hopefully correct that.

I've found that Bulletin website can be rather clunky, so hopefully this link will work.

    And two "UConn Huskies" chants.
