UConn Baseball Weekend Series @ Ranked UCF

The UConn baseball team (20-12, 3-3 American) heads to the Sunshine State for the fourth time in 2015 to take on nationally-ranked UCF (24-10, 3-3 American) in a three-game American Athletic Conference series this weekend. The Huskies and Knights will clash on Friday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. before a 4 p.m. start on Saturday, April 11 and a 1 p.m. series finale on Sunday, April 12.

Important series. Would love to get 2 of 3. UCF has an RPI of 38 and a NPI of 42. Our current RPI is 42 and a NPI of 22. Looks like 2 very comparable teams. Looking forward to these 3 games, they can set the tone (good or bad) for the rest of the season

After getting hit by a batted ball, Carson Cross works himself out of a jam in the 3rd inning. UConn up 3-0.

4-1 UConn lead after 5 innings.

It seems that the UConn defense has been living a bit dangerously, allowing a couple of UCF runners on an inning, but then Cross gets out of it. Same routine in the bottom of the 6th, but UConn maintains its 4-1 lead.

Bases loaded single by Testani drives in two more UConn runs. Now the adventure begins as Nico Darras relieves Cross to start the bottom of the 8th.

Ruotolo's had his problems of late, but he would certainly be better off if the defense behind him would stop with the errors and misplays. Willy Yahn is the prime culprit in this game.

Anthony Kay gets a strike out and a double play to retire UCF in the bottom of the 3rd. 7-0 UConn. Considering Coach Penders seems to have little confidence in the bullpen in anyone other than Darras and Ruotolo in the late innings of a tight game, it would really help if Kay could go a long way in this game in hot Orlando.
