UConn Baseball Mid-Week Games ~ Fairfield (4/14) & Bryant (4/15)

>>Coming off its second series victory over a ranked opponent this season, the UConn baseball team (22-13) hits the road this week for contests at Fairfield (7-20) on Tuesday, April 14 and at Bryant (10-15) on Wednesday, April 15. Game times are set for 3:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. UConn is 57-14-1 all-time against Fairfield and 4-3 vs. Bryant.

Sam Nepiarsky comes in to relieve in the 8th inning. Easy 1-2-3 inning for him. Always good to see anyone in the back end of the bullpen get some work. Still a bit of a surprise, considering this game isn't a blowout.

And Callahan Brown comes in to pitch the 9th with I believe a 7 run lead.

Hopefully Nepiarsky and Brown are impressing coach enough to the point that they'll begin to see some higher-leverage situations. As evidenced by the recent meltdowns, this team needs it.

In the post game interview Penders said that Nepiarsky has looked good in practice, and it is a possibilty that he could end up getting some weekend relief innings.

Turning into a comedy of errors at this point. Daniello reaches on a strikeout/wild pitch, infield single by Yavarone, and a HBP for Testani to load the bases with no outs. Pitcher then balked in a run before being replaced.

Blake Davey is out of the lineup due to a hamstring injury, according to Chris Jones. Eric Yavarone is doing well with a multiple hit game as his replacement in left.
