Matthew Wood taken 15th overall by Nashville Predators in 2023 NHL Draft

Wood becomes the Huskies' highest NHL pick ever and the second-ever first-rounder.

->Nashville has now taken more Huskies than any other NHL team with three selections total. The Predators took Tomas Vomacka in the fifth round of the 2017 draft and Jachym Kondelik in the fourth round of the 2018 draft. Incoming UConn goaltender Ethan Haider is also a Nashville prospect, having been taken in the fifth round of the 2019 draft.<-

On ESPN's draftcast online, their writer's blurb on him implied that Nashville would let him stay in college for another two years. Since he's an early birthday, he'd leave UConn after three years at age 20, which is just fine.
