The adjectives to describe the disaster that is BC's basketball program have not been developed yet. They may not see the NIT in the next 5 years let alone The Tourney.

But they had a home game against Duke yesterday. And they almost drew 8,000.

It's doable. I don't see a particularly winnable game until 2/23 against Virginia Tech.

They (BCU) did say that the move was for academic reasons so I guess this won't bother anyone associated with the school.

Last year BC's avg home attendance for hoops was 4,486. So far this season they're averaging in the neighborhood of 2,800 (and that includes hosting Duke and ND already). New England's team!

Given the state of the athletic programs there it will be interesting to see what happens to Bates. They stay with him then I think it pretty much confirms that the administration there is not committed to the highest level of athletic excellence and are happy cashing ACC checks. They will be Wake without the basketball pedigree.

They are headed for average crowds of 2,500 for MBB which is almost unimaginable.

If you look at their boards...that is EXACTLY what their fan base accuses Fr Harrington of. They blame DeFilippo as well for firing all the good coaches they had there.

DeFilippo was poison all the way around. We was a very small character, very insecure guy. He was the kind of person that only gets to a position like that at an institution with flawed leadership. He has set BC back years and years. Unfortunately, given BC's status in football at the time, he used that leverage and completely missed a golden opportunity to increase the profile of college athletics in the northeast. BC, Syracuse, Rutgers and UCONN should never have separated. It hurt everyone and MBB games with 2,000 fannies is a pretty good indication of just how bad it is and is going to get. BC has another football season like the last one and Alumni will look just like the Rent the last few seasons except when ND and FSU come in once in a while to kick BC's . Those games will be home games for the visitors.

But BCU fans can crow that they are P5 and be happy with that.

At least they had the common sense to reduce the student section for hoops to under one basket.

Those plucky beagles put up a fight for 20 minutes.

Is losing by 27 bad?

they are losing by an avg of 21.5 points per game in Conference play....you think they complete the ultimate double losing by a 20 pt avg? I think they do it.

CBS was showing highlights during halftime of the UConn-Georgetown game today. When showing those from BC-ND, they called BC one of the worst teams in the P5 this year, or something like that. Ouch.
