Is there any more brutal event in gymnastics? Whoever drew this sucker up had some serious hatred for women. A four inch width of wood, and if you miss and fall you run the risk of serious injury. The only thing missing is a bed of razor blades on the floor to punish those who fail. And ladies, we fully expect you to dance and flip and fly like little minxes on this torture device.

Well...up until Tokyo in 1964 the beam was 26 feet off the floor. So at least now it's safer.
