A guy I played with in HS has a son at The Woodlands. He told me that the coach has 1 job...coach football. It's not like up here where it is a supplement salary to a teaching job.

It becomes crazier when you factor in cost of living in houston. It's like 150-200k in connecticut

Many of the public school coaches salaries/stipends in CT are part of teaching contracts. I've seen them range from $5,000 to $10k (very, very few crest that level). I'm sure the privates/prep/parochials may be a bit higher but..

I'm a public school teacher (not a coach). That is correct.

Looks to be about the same in for the public high schools, in North Jersey. What is not know as they are private/religious entities, is how much the power catholic coaches at Don Bosco, Bergen Catholic, St. Peter's, etc. are paid. Best guess is a lot more.

A couple of years back, some of the star public football coaches where also given the title of AD, which salary is about $100K a year. In my school district, we have 2 AD's because we have 2 high schools, why an AD is needed for each school is beyond me. The brakes were put on that trend a few years back when Wayne Hills legend Coach Chris Olsen thought he was an SEC coach after several his star players were arrested after a fight with rival Wayne Valley and decided in his role as AD that they did not break any school rules and thus could keep playing football. After that fiasco, he was retired and Wayne selected a new independent AD to run things.

As an assistant here in CT, I get about a $4700 stipend at the end of the season. Head coaches make around 9-10k in my district.
